Barmes going down to the Springs!
DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced before tonight's game that the club has optioned infielder Clint Barmes to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
To take Barmes' place on the roster, the team has recalled infielder Omar Quintanilla (#6) from Colorado Springs.
Quintanilla, 25, batted .255 (14-for-55) with 4 doubles, one triple and 6 RBI in 17 games for the Sky Sox this season.
He started 15 contests, 12 at shortstop and 3 at second base.
He hit safely in 3 of his last 5 games at .438 (7-for-16).
Quintanilla has committed just one error in 199 total chances at second base and shortstop in his brief major league career.
He is scheduled to be in uniform for tonight's game at San Francisco.
Barmes, who started 4 games for the Rockies, went 2-for-20 (.100) with one walk and 6 strikeouts in 10 games.

I certainly never expected him to be a superstar, but I never expected him to go so completly in the tank after his injury. I think the Rocks just need to trade him for a bag of used balls and let him have a fresh start elsewhere. He was a class guy here.
