After eight years removed from high school...

I've finally decided to go to college. Right know I'm only enrolled in two classes to make sure I can handle what I'm getting into since I work full time and have a family to take care of.

Congratulations and good luck. It's never too late!

REB 01-11-2007 01:24 PM

Congrats man and good luck. What field are you interested in?

Old Dude 01-11-2007 01:32 PM

ditto!

Crushaholic 01-11-2007 01:37 PM

Congratulations and good luck, ks. Are you going to school in McPherson or are you going elsewhere?

ksBRONCOfan 01-11-2007 01:55 PM

I'm going through Business Administration in Management program through Fort Hays State University. They have a virtual college program that I'm using.

Way to go, ks! I waited to start college until I was 34. Worked full time, attended school full time, finished my degree at 38. Got NCRA (yes, your NCRA) to pay for part of it, too. It's definitely do-able. I'm glad I did it. Good luck to you!

Right on. Virtual eh? Does that mean it's all online?

I took my first "virtual" real estate license update course. Never taken a class online before. As an agent in Colorado we are required to take a certain amount of ongoing education. I took what use to be a 4 hr class in about 1.5 hr. It was the same information, less driving time, cheaper, and there wasn't any yahoos in the classroom slowing things down as there usually is.

I think I'm a fan of virtual education!

When you graduate we'll have a virtual graduation bash for you on the Mane!Ha!

Congrats! I "attend" classes online. For me that's the only way I'd be able to complete my degree. It's wonderful that you can log into your class at 11pm in your pj's and take an exam. :-) Except warning...the mane is a distraction

Yeah, I'm hoping to be able to go full time to finish in four years. For every A I get my company will reimburse books and tuition 100%. Can't beat that!

The whole thing is online. I have the same textbooks as on campus and some classes will have CD's and/or DVD's to go along with the online and book stuff.

Congratulations on the decision.

Im in Year 2 of college right out of High School. A year or 2 removed I cant imagine if I would have gone back, but 8 years!!

Orange_Beard 01-11-2007 11:33 PM

are you going to walk on the football team? LOL

I graduated college 9 years after high school.

cbs1177 01-12-2007 01:00 AM

Congrats I know the pains of going to college and reading about classmates in the local paper suceed. But man I am 27 still attending college slowly but surely and gonna get that degree in econ if it kills me. I don't have any student loans and refuse them. It is hard but if it is something you really want go for it. I figure I get my degree about the age of 29-30 and then I still have a long life to live with it. Congrats and kudos for going back. Stick it out man.

That's funny you would say that. I often think about what I would do if I didn't have a full time job and a family. I was fairly small in high school, but now I'm 6'0 and 260, if I got myself back into shape I'd be around 235 and I see a lot of NFL players that size. Of course there is always that possiblity I could just flat out suck at football, but I can pretend I don't until I know other wise. ;)

I've been in college for eight years.

broncocalijohn 01-13-2007 04:34 PM

There is a great Frat house that will accept you regardless of your status on campus. Contact Frank the Tank or if you are at Atoms College, see Tashi or Poindexter.

Sorry back in high school and that has been 10 years ago. Also man keep up with tuition and books and fees payments help me go from a $77 to a $611 tax refund. Also if the class requires a new book go online and usually you can get it cheap even with fast shipping. Got a book for $65 instead on the on campus bookstore $141. Good luck man
