My nephew needs Orange Mane prayers/thoughts...

December 22, my sister-in-law went in for a C-section because the twin boys were actually causing her medical problems. They were 2 months premature. As premature babies, Jaret and Colten were put in the neonatal intensive care unit for care until they were able to function normally in society (breathing and so forth). Everything was OK for a while until Jaret started breathing irregularly. To make a long story short, Jaret's blood vessels burst inside of him and he died. Nobody knows for sure what caused it. He's going to have an autopsy done ASAP. Colten, meanwhile, has started breathing irregularly and they have put him on a different ventilator to get his oxygen level where it should be. Nobody knows whether he will pull through this or not. This is where the Orange Mane comes in. Please keep Colten in your thoughts/prayers. People are understandably having a difficult time with Jaret's death and we need Colten to make it. They say the first 72 hours are the most difficult for premature babies. One didn't make it, but I'm hoping the other one does. I'll keep everyone posted as soon as I know something different...

That's rough...twins are usually small anyway even full term. Sometimes things just aren't meant to be I guess. Keep fighting Colton.

heydensmom 12-24-2006 09:35 AM

Definately in my thoughts and prayers

ludo21 12-24-2006 09:40 AM

My condolences to the family. I'll be praying for Colten. He wouldn't have made it this far if he wasn't a fighter.

Bronx33 12-24-2006 01:06 PM

I said a little prayer...

Meck77 12-24-2006 01:11 PM

I'll pray for him bro.

REB 12-24-2006 02:44 PM

Very sorry to hear Jaret didn't make it and I will keep Colten and the family in my prayers.

Awww...thoughts and prayers coming your way for Colten and your family! :(

What an awful tragedy ...even more so during the holidays! :(

Thoughts and prayers are with him

PatsWin2002 12-24-2006 05:38 PM

C'mon Colten......hang in there, buddy.

Thinking of you and your parents.

ORANGEJARHEAD 12-24-2006 09:31 PM

I am genuine in my grief for you and yours. Keep your heads up, keep prayin', and Colton will surley pull thru. Every O-Maner needs to pray for a christmas miracle for this family.

Crushaholic 12-25-2006 02:15 AM

Thank you all. It's been very hard to figure this all out. Colten appears to have his breathing stabilized for the time being and is resting comfortably. Meanwhile, funeral arrangements for Jaret are going to be made after Christmas and after an autopsy has been performed. Fortunately, a "miracle" of sorts happened in the Broncos game and that gives me hope Colten will be alright...

Sassy 12-27-2006 02:18 AM

Any updates?

Florida_Bronco 12-27-2006 10:27 AM

Sorry. I've been in the hospital all day long. I do have good news. They switched him to a C-Pap device people normally wear for sleep apnea. He also had his first bedwetting of his life...ROFL!

Anyway, he appears to be on the road to becoming a healthy baby boy. They are going to keep him in the hospital for awhile because that's the SOP for premature babies. The family is holding up well. Those emotions will come back Saturday with Jaret's funeral, but my brother and sister-in-law recognize that they have one baby boy to take home and they feel blessed by that fact. Thank you to everyone who responded to this thread and offered prayers/thoughts. I feel like they really helped...

Great news! I'll still keep him in my thoughts and prayers along with your family!

Wow, crush...I just saw this!

My prayers are with you and your family.

Glad to hear that he is doing better. A friend of mine had her baby boy premie by 2 months as well. They kept him in the hospital until about the time that she was actually due. It's tough to see your baby and feel so helpless. Many thoughts and prayers for you all!!

Yep. Colten will probably be in the hospital until the middle of February, but he's opening his eyes and starting to recognize and respond to his parents visually. He also doesn't like his tubes, but who would?Ha!

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your nephew but am glad to hear your other nephew is doing better. My best friends son was born 10 weeks early and is now doing very well. Best wishes to your family.

Mtbrncofn 01-02-2007 12:04 AM

Sorry to hear of you and your family's loss, Crush. Prayers go out to baby Colten for continued good news concerning his health.

Crushaholic 01-31-2007 02:43 PM

I finally have great news. Colten is getting out of the hospital today. I don't know how much he weighs right now, but he's apparently healthy enough to go home after 5 weeks in the hospital. Thanks to everyone who kept him in prayers/thoughts...^5

DomCasual 01-31-2007 04:30 PM

That's terrible, man. I can't imagine. Best wishes to all you you!
