How Much Weight Will You Gain This Holiday Season?

I got through Halloween alright, but Thanksgiving and Christmas will probably pack a good ten pounds of holiday cheer onto me. Rich foods, parties, people bringing goodies into the office, what can you do?

I don't deny myself. I know I'll pay for it later, but I love this time of year. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and this year promises to be more festive than usual, as we settle back to watch the Lads feast on red and yellow turkeys.

I guess the first option should read "health food fanatic", not "heath food fanatic".

Clockwork Orange 11-07-2006 12:09 AM

I've been attempting to let myself go for nearly five years now (it'll be five years exactly on Friday), so I say bring it on.

Thanksgiving is the one holiday of the year in which my wife and Mother collaborate in the kitchen and the results are heavenly.:)

Won't gain any weight, not because of either of these reasons, "I have a fast metabolism and/or I'm a heath food fanatic."

I work-out like a MF'er. I eat like a pig.

I've been at 270-275 for the last two years and now I'm down to 250 and want to keep dropping. I'll still enjoy the food, but I'll keep portions smaller than years past.

Turkeys are my specialty.......:)

I'm going on the Nicole Ritche diet... I wanna be greyhound skinny for christmas. I packed on 40lbs over the last 3 years. BEEFCAKE!!!

I will probably gain some with all of the junk food around, but I really don't eat that much at holiday meals. I do most of the cooking and by the time I am finished, I would just as soon head to Wendy's for a burger.

TailgateNut 11-07-2006 09:49 AM

I don't EAT much, I just Taste everything several times to make sure it's safe!:wiggle:

I'll have to resist temptation when it gets too cold to make it out to the gym...

Dagmar 11-07-2006 06:54 PM

I'm getting treadmill this wek and I'm gonna lose weight.

Orange_Beard 11-07-2006 09:06 PM

There is a place here in Denver called "Marczyk's fine foods", they sell these Turkey's (http://marczykfinefoods.com/fresh.htm).
They are unreal, I must have eaten 3 or 4 pounds for Thanksgiving dinner last year.

AboveAverage 11-08-2006 06:56 AM

I may gain 5 pounds on Thanksgiving alone.

Turkey. Corn. Stuffing. Mashed potatoes. Bread. Gravy. And on, and on....

I almost can't wait.

The afternoon nap is probably the best of the year as well.

OrangeShadow 11-08-2006 07:15 AM

i work out every day running at least 2 miles so i dont think ill gain a whole lot. although stuffing is my weakness

Old Dude 11-08-2006 07:59 AM

Since mid-September, I've dropped about 20 pounds due to better diet, exercise and the gypsy curse. Because of the exercise, the excess inches are going even faster than the weight. I had to buy a new belt and I'm going to have to get some new pants, because I've dropped 2 waist sizes (4 inches) from where I started. If I can drop another 15 pounds, I'll be back to my late 20's / early 30's weight, and I'd be within 10 pounds of my optimum.

Nonetheless, I intend to pig out pretty good on Thanksgiving. You have to reward yourself once in awhile. Maybe the day after, too.

Can't sleep through football this year as the Broncos will be on.

The women in my family always laugh at the guys "watching" the game in the living room. The only game according to them is who can snore the loudest.

2 miles every day?

Talk about some dedication. Do you go in the morning or what?

BMF Bronco 11-08-2006 10:48 AM

I wont gain a thing, I have been the same weight for about 10 years now, my fat ass just stays the same no matter what I do.

Hogan11 11-08-2006 03:22 PM

Good Lord, you're making my mouth water already.

I'm hoping I won't gain any weight, but if I do....I'll also hope I can keep it to a maximum of 5 pounds.

heydensmom 11-10-2006 05:04 PM

smalltowngrll 11-10-2006 05:49 PM

No need. That can't be possible.

Old Dude 01-19-2007 03:28 PM

Bump.

The holiday season only ended for me a couple weeks ago, with a bunch of birthday cake.

Regardless, I'm happy to report that since late September/ early October, I dropped 40 pounds! I've had at least a dozen co-workers ask how I did it.

"Well, first, you gotta get really really fat ..."

Mtbrncofn 01-19-2007 04:14 PM

Wow! Way to go, OD!
