Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin, has died after being stung by a stingray in Queensland, according to reports.

Mr Irwin apparently died in a marine accident on the Great Barrier Reef, initial reports say.

A spokeswoman for Irwin's Australia Zoo said she was aware of the reports but the zoo would not be making any statements at this stage.

My Nanny will be very upset, she loves that guy.

Sad day indeed tho, i hope his wife rethinks her lifestyle as well with a kid on board.

LonghornBronco 09-03-2006 09:38 PM

Sad sad day... I grew up watching this guy tempt fate.

Saddletramp 09-03-2006 09:38 PM

May God have mercy on his soul. RIP Steve.

I always thought a crockie would get him in the end. Kinda disappointed it was a stingray. RIP Steve

Thanks for the link. Can't believe I didn't hear about this today.

Awww, how sad! You had to love that guy's enthusiasm for life and what he did. What a shame. I didn't know sting rays could kill people.

God bless, Irwin family.

Holy ****! RIP man. Prayers with his family.

Atlas 09-03-2006 10:19 PM

WOW. I really liked him. He made animals fun for my step kids and my daughter.

Its unfortunate, but I'm not really surprised. He was very reckless.

Marlin Perkins was bitten by a timber rattlesnake, a cottonmouth and a Gaboon viper, but he lived to be 84. He made his sidekick Jim do a lot of the heavy lifting in his later years.

watermock 09-03-2006 10:29 PM

He had bigger balls than me. i'm not easily scared but punching sharks and rock is not my cup of tea.

My best wishes.

Hulamau 09-03-2006 10:30 PM

That a damn shame! Irwin had a natural enthusiasm for life and wild life that was great. He did take some huge riskes and that how I thought he would have died by a snake or croc, but a sting ray!

I swim around Manta Rays all the time but they aren't as dangerous. must have puntured his heart or lung ... Damn it... rest in peace dude!

Kaylore 09-03-2006 10:31 PM

Crikey!

anthonypacino 09-03-2006 10:34 PM

I hope the Discovery channel filmed it...that was the only reason I watched that show, I was just hoping one day he stuck his hand into a croc's mouth he was gonna pull back a bloody stump. That whole play with fire thing...

Wow, you are one sick, twisted person. I hope you're not serious.

Well, you're a champion alright. Maybe they'll send you his bloodsoaked scuba gear if you ask politely.

DeusExManning 09-03-2006 10:41 PM

Really great guy, you have to admit that. And of all things the Sting Ray. I am in a state of shock. RIP Steve.

Geez. That's a bit morbid and harsh.
