Man, Carmelo is kicking some major ass.

Wish we had a couple of guys to go with him here in Denver.

Can't wait to watch today's game when I get home from work. Melo, to use a Pierre McGuire term, was a MONSTER! :notworthy

Man, today's game was pretty awesome. I only saw the first half before returning to bed, so I didn't really see Melo go on a tear for 35, but man that Italian squad is good. And they don't even have that Bargnani guy.

You know, people can bash the USA all they want, but the fact is there will never ever be an average winning margin of 38 points ever again ('92) and people should just move on. I find it funny that this team just can't win, even if they win but it's by less than 50 points they get bashed.

Not only has the world caught up, but I do wonder what 1992 would have been like if say, John Stockton played for France (Tony Parker) or if Scottie Pipper played for Argentina (Manu) or if Charles Barkley played for Germany (Dirk). I realize that 1992 was full of legendary players, and I'll even go as far as to say these guys out there don't have the talent that that squad had. But that squad also didn't have to face teams with top-tier NBA talent. I mean seriously, what if the 1992 team had to face a foreign team with an MVP candidate like Dirk leading the way?

Anyways, I'm rambling. The point is, this USA Squad is going to take this tournament, and they're taking the gold in 2008. Just don't diminish the accomplishments because the games weren't decided by halftime.

All I gotta say to Nuggets fans is THANK YOU MELO for saving our a** today against Italy.

He's been incredible during the games this summer. Just amazing.

I agree with you RhymesayersDU, people criticize this US team but they are playing well considering they are not going to beat anyone by 38 or 40 like the 92 team did.

Today's game was great, that sucks you missed the second half and Melo's show.

I've been getting up every morning to watch the games and lets hope US can come back w/ the top honors.

Yeah, I wanted to stay up so bad, but it was like 5:30 and I had to get some more sleep before work. But I guess ESPN2 will be showing the game tonight, so I might have to watch that second half with Melo.

Also, does anybody know what is going on with Bosh? How could a guy that good get a DNP?

I think based on the big mean, Brand and Howard have throughly out-played Bosh and Howard has been really impressive.

Brand is essentially the first big man off the bench and Italy wasn't a big team, according to Fran Fraschilla, the play-by-play guy for ESPN2, he said Italy's tallest player in its rotation was something like 6'8 or 6'9.

So Coach K went small w/ the main big man being Brand when Howard wasnt in there.

RhymesayersDU 08-23-2006 09:21 PM

Speaking of Coach K, I'm glad he abandoned that 5-man deal he was doing. Subbing 5 new guys in is a terrible move, even if you have an all-star team full of NBA studs.

The fact is, throwing 5 guys in there cold is stupid. I realize it's tempting when you have guys like Wade, Brand, etc, coming off the bench, but you gotta work these guys in 1 or 2 at a time so they can get in the flow of the game.

I love Coach K, he's a legend, but that was a stupid move.

This is great. Melo has always been this good but he just never got the media exposure or respect. Now that he's dominating on the international stage, hopefully people won't exclude him when they're talking about james and Wade. When Melo is on, you can't stop him. He is one of the best mid range shooters in the game.
