Rate my keeper league team...
We just had our keeper league draft Monday night... We started out with 5 keepers from last season (moved that number up to 7 for next season) and have TWO flex positions instead of one. Everything else is pretty much standard.
Here are my keepers from last year: QB - Carson Palmer RB - Edgerrin James RB - Duece McAllister WR - Larry Fitzgerald TE - Tony Gonzalez Here is my draft in the order that I picked them in. I was in the 5th spot of a serpentine style draft of 12 teams. RB - Willie Parker RB - Frank Gore QB - JAY CUTLER WR - Matt Jones K - Jason Elam DEF - Washington WR - Reggie Brown WR - Isaac Bruce QB - Jon Kitna WR - Antonio Bryant WR - Ashley Lelie WR - Ernest Wilford RB - Lee Suggs RB - Najeh Davenport WR - Keary Colbert I have to say, I'm pretty damned thrilled with the way things went. I really think I finished strong too, especially getting the last three where I got them. |
DAvenport? Nobody else worth taking there?
|
Alstott, Goings or Antowain Smith... It was the 19th round.

Well I for one would not have picked up Suggs what a bone headed choice that was ;)

Great job hanging on to Carson Palmer and Fitz. Both will put up good/great numbers for years to come. I'm not sure about Edge, but you had to keep him. Gonzo and McAllister will have down seasons. Gonzo will have to stay in to help block more. Think back to last year when Roaf was out. Gonzo's numbers SUCKED! Plus you have to wonder how many more years he has. IMO, you should trade him. Hope for a guy like Witten or Heap who are both underrated at the moment in most fantasy circles. McMichael is another guy you can target. A little suprised you didn't go after Schef? As for McAllister, coming off injury and the addition of Reggie means he'll probably get 15 or less touches per game. Best case for him, 1000 yards and 8 TD's. Not bad numbers, but that's a best case scenario as well. More likely you'll see about 750 yards and 6 TD's... TD's could go up if they decide he's the best option in the redzone. Moves from your draft that I really liked. Matt Jones, Antonio Bryant, Frank Gore, and Willie Parker. You managed to grab the #1 receiver for two teams, a RB in Gore that could easily put up 1000/10, and a RB for a team that runs more than anybody in the league. Willie could be good for 1300 and 8 TD's... which would be a steal for you! No Bettis will atleast give him the opportunity to compete for the short yardage/goal line touches. Don't care for your defense. They've been over producing for a couple of years. Springs is hurting, Arrington is gone, and they can't keep getting gold out of the turds on the DL. Overall I'd say a solid B. Strong future at RB, WR, and QB which are your money positions. Sloppy present and future at TE and Defense. And, as much as I hate to admit it, Elam is no longer a top 5 fantasy kicker. |
Great evaluation. I like getting a third party perspective.
I'm going to attempt to trade Tony G. for Randy McMicaels straight across. The team that has him also has Jeremy Shockey, so I'm thinking they might go for it. If they refuse, I think I'll try to trade Tony for a lower valued runningback, and pick up Scheffler... |
Gonzo for McMichael would be a very good trade for you. '
I think you're sitting pretty at RB. Of course it would be nice to know that Gore was the starter for SF. I think he will be, but don't know for sure until the season starts. You must have faith in the Skins D. I don't think they can do the same good as the past couple years. Also keep in mind that they are not an opportunistic bunch. Decent stat wise. Might be okay if you couple ST's in with defense in your league... but other than that I'd try to get out of that mess! You're welcome for the $.02 |
well i doubt it but if heath miller is still available that would be a great pickup for you because you would basically monopolize the red zone touches for the steelers. other TEs to look at: vernon davis, winslow2, alex smith, lj smith, zach hilton, putzier, a couple others but i would definitely say that those are some guys that you should look into so that you can get another TE and hopefully one for the future.

Depending on the size of the league some of those guys might be available. Vernon Davis kind of froze up from what I understand. Winslow admits that he's not the same physically. Alex Smith will try to steal touches from Galloway, Clayton, David Boston (yes that guy!!!), and Cadillac Williams. LJ Smith is a decent option, but he's fairly well known. I think he got hurt last year, but his production dropped off tremendously. I know McNabb went down, but he wasn't the same either. Wouldn't touch Jeb. I know he's in a familiar offense, but the Texans have several TE's and are still high on Bennie Jobaru ;D. Zach Hilton is a guy that I've been watching. At the very least he's worth grabbing as an emergency replacement. He has great height (6'8''!!!) and now has a QB that knows how to hit and use his TE. Brees may not have Gates to throw to, but he'll like throwing to Hilton in the redzone and on 3rd downs. During the last 7 games of the 05 season Hilton had about 95% of his total production. I predicted Gates rise here 3 years ago and if you go back and look at his numbers from the 03 season (specifically the last 7 or 8 games) you will make the connection. Hilton is going to be a player VERY SOON. With Brees on the scene I think this will be the year he makes his mark. |

None of these guys know about Scheffler, though a couple of them are pretty savvy on fantasy football... I don't know what to do with friggin Suggs now that he failed his physical... dumbass... |
Frank Gore ran real well against the Bears D last week. I have him on my fantasy league too, so I was keeping my eye on him. I think he ended up with 54 yds and a TD. Not bad for week 1 of the preseason against a top defense.
