darwin award... missed it by thaaaaat much.

the pittsburgh QB made a valiant attempt at removing his DNA from the genepool today. regrettably, it seems he'll now have to settle for a busted face, broken jaw, and a mouthful of missing teeth instead. on the brighter side, this immediately puts him neck and neck with larry bird for the title of "ugliest white guy ever".

so here's to you big ben, true man of genius who laughs off suggestions of wearing a helmet while on your motorcyle, we salute you!

spare me your sanctimony.

big ben is an idiot. he's got a responsibility to the Rooneys, his coaches, his teammates, and Steeler fans. those people are all relying on him to be there to do his job as a QB in the NFL. he was warned repeatedly about the dangers of riding without a helmet and yet he still did it. and look what happened to him, he got seriously injured in a serious accident that has now jeopardized his future in the NFL.

you wanna see how selfishness like that can affect a whole lot of people, go ask the Celtics how long it took to recover from losing their 1st round draft pick to cocaine-induced caridac arrest (see Len Bias). more than a decade they wandered in the wilderness because Len did something stupid ONCE. and once was all it took to stop his heart.

what big ben did was selfish and stupid and deserving of sarcasm & ridicule. who died and made him beyond reproach anyway?... if i'm forced to endure morons on here mocking President Bush (who's doing his best to protect us from Al Qaeda and other enemies abroad trying to kill every american man, woman, and child that they can) with their signatures and avatars, i can tell you i am SURE AS HELL NOT GOING GIVE big ben a pass on how utterly stupid it was for him to ride without a helmet.

got that, smart guy? oh, i see you're from NM. sorry, if i'd noticed that earlier, i would have stuck to 1 syllable words only.

I'm glad the idiot is alive. It's hard to call dead people idiots without looking pretty crass.

Before 9/11 - "I wasn't on point, I didn't feel a sense of urgency, there are some things I wish we'd have done"

After 9/11 - "I don't know where he is, and I repeat what I have said, I'm just not that concerned about Osama Bin Laden"

You had to go there, didn't you? This, of course, is going to turn into a Bush thread now.

As opposed to its original intent, which was laughing at the near death of a 24 year old?

I gotta tell ya, for once, another W thread might be step up.

I'm sorry, but thats just a really stupid comment. A responsibility to a football club and sports enthusiasts? Hilarious! What a joke. Supposedly one has a larger burden to live when they're a Quarterback in the NFL.

His only concern should be himself. If he's fine with the dangers of biking without a helmet thats his concern. Suicide is selfish, a person living life to his own tune is not.

What if Big Ben died on the football field? Would you say he's stupid? Surely by your logic he'd be stupid to ever play such a dangerous game as football. Oh wait... its justified by the fact that it 1.) payswell and 2.) entertains you.

I guess any other reason to risk ones life is just stupidity, right?

Crushaholic 06-12-2006 11:32 PM

Once again, the "100 post" comment seems applicable...

Pezman 06-12-2006 11:43 PM

Pretty sick thread considering the injuries he sustained.

DHallblows 06-12-2006 11:43 PM

I think that this guy might need a 1000 post rule...
