What the hell, 1st day Broncos mock
I'd be pretty pleased with this draft. Feel free to agree or disagree.
25. David Baas, G, Michigan. Unless someone they can't live without slips this looks to be a smart choice. Nalen is gone after next season with Hamilton vacating his guard spot to take over at center. With Carlisle re-signed, it gives Baas a full year to learn the system as the Broncos gave George Foster. 56. Anttaj Hawthorne, DT, Wisconsin He seemed a first round lock a few months back but his stock has dipped dramatically for one reason or another. He could be this years version of Randy Starks or Darnell Dockett (someone thought to be a late 1st rounder, yet slips and becomes a steal for someone later on). Despite all their D-line moves, the Broncos could use some fresh blood (who's signed beyond next year) along the front 4 and this is great value at pick 56. 97. Vincent Jackson, WR, Northern Colorado Everyone here knows this guy's story by now so not much background needs to be given. He's still looked upon as a project, but he's got all the tools and ability to be an outstanding NFL WR. If he's still here at this pick we'll know the stars have aligned in our favor as I wouldn't be opposed to grabbing him in round 2 either. 101. Richie Incognito, C/G, Nebraska This is a risky pick here, but it's the last choice of day one and the last the Broncos will have until round 6, I think he's worth the gamble. He was dominant at the combine until he sprained his knee and he's got the nastiness and versatility that will fit in well on the Broncos O-line. This will give the Broncos 3 guys (Hamilton, Baas & Incognito) who can all play either guard or center and some think that Incognito could even play tackle if called upon to do so. Has serious personal issues though which could make him worthless, but I believe the risk is worth the reward. |
Best. Wet. Dream. Ever.
Bass at 25 is a little high but still ill take it. The rest of the picks are stellar. Hawthorne at 56. WOW. |
I think Jackson will be long gone by that pick. Most mocks I've seen got him going in the second round...possibly to us
|
Richie played every position on the NU line.
|
Yep, we would be getting tremendous value at every spot outside the first round there. And i can live with reaching for Bass at 25.

Like I said, I'm hoping. |

I think Denver will take him in the second if he is there..because it is quite a long time before we pick after that one and he will be gone before we pick in the third. |
I could live with all of it except for that criminal Icognito. Todd Bertuzzi's future cell mate and man partner.

No way we go OG in the first. OT perhaps but no way in the world you see a OG at #25. Elton Brown's stock is plummetting.... I think it was the man boobies he had at the Sr. Bowl that did him in.
New mock! #25- Matt Jones- A bit of a reach here but no way he makes it to us in the 2nd. Shanny loves speed and he misses having a guy like Eddy Mac on the team. #56- Elton Brown- Yes, he will drop this far. For several different reasons. Even Baas is dropping right now. Especially since he started talking about wanting to play Center in the NFL. Not to worry though, if Brown doesn't slip then count on Evan Mathis at this pick. Mathis is probably better suited for our offense anyhow! #97- Antonio Perkins- Pipe dream you say? Considering he is currently the 11th rated CB on most scouts reports I think you'll find him dropping into the late 3rd and maybe early day two. Yes, his return ability helps him. This draft is deep in returners though. If not for Jones in the first then a WR like Murphy would be the pick here. Perkins shores up two positions. #101- Adrian McPherson- IMO, this would be the steal of the draft. A lot depends on how GM's and HC's view his troubled history. It only takes one team to look at him and say "he's matured". I have my doubts that he'll last. In fact, being completely honest I wouldn't be the least bit suprised to see him go in the 2nd! Wishful thinking here, but I hope he falls into our laps! |
What is it with everyone with Matt Jones! Drew Bennett took 4 years to become a threat in the NFL and didn't he play some WR in college? Jones will take sometime to become OK and maybe even longer to become GOOD. Let another team take on the project because I don't want too.

I would love that draft, sadly I have prior engagements that wont allow me to watch it live, but if we do draft like that, then I will absolutely love it!

:) Seriously, you just had to schedule that trip with your friends on draft weekend? Give me a break. |
Nope, not when you have holes at OL, WR, DB, and all over your ST's. It's a need(DL), but we can build on ST's and win now. The way I see it, whatever DL we bring in will see limited action as well. Why not start prepping a 2nd WR.

I watched Incognito play at Nebraska...
He's got alot of talent and alot of baggage. He's got potential but he's a risk. |

Yes he is and yes he does. |
