Now that all the Mocks do not have us picking a TE (has to be a first in 6 years), I think Shanny may have Heath Miller targeted at #25. Just a few reasons why:

1. Red Zone scoring-Shanny loves a 2 TE set in the redzone and if Hape has been effective, imagine what a talented TE would do.

2. Great Value pick at 25- have you seen a list of best prospects that does not have this kid in top 25 overall? Most have him top 20.

3. We need Depth here-If Putz was to get hurt we would have Alexander as our primary TE. House is back at LT, Leach blows and Hape has more lives than a cat.

4. Not many would expect it-We all know how Shanny likes to shock the fans.

Well I actually would really like the pick. Miller could actually make an impact this year. Could actually extend Rod's career another year if he didn't have to go over the middle so much.

I would agree with you if we didn't pick up Alexander. I wouldn't mind drafting him though. Anytime you can get the best player in a position you are not doing that bad. I don't think he makes it past NY though, or do they pick after us? Either way it should come down to Jets and the Bungals.

I was thinking along that way too, an offensive skill position player, like a Miller or a Jones, Jackson or Clayton. Who knows, tho.

I think you are on to something that Shanny is going to try an improve our redzone scoring but I disagree on how.I think when you look at what our needs were going into FA we have adressed them with the exeption of OL. So i would look for another pick like foster maybe Elton brown, Baas, Barnes. But as I have been looking at this I really think if we go OT it will be Jeremy Parquet

Strengths: Excellent size and a massive frame...Good athleticism and nimble feet...Has long arms which aid him as a pass blocker...Powerful and does a solid job as a run blocker...Smart player who graduated in 3 1/2 years...A team leader and captain.
Weaknesses: Not as strong as you would like and needs to hit the weight room...Doesn't always play up to his physical ability...Inconsistent...Will improve in the running game as he gets stronger.
Notes: Prospect who has a rare blend of size and athleticism...Has a lot of potential as well as the drive to succeed and improve...May have the potential to play left tackle in the NFL.
He would fit our scheme and he is as close to a foster clone that we could draft at our position. I would hope that we would trade down if we intend on taking OL in round 1 to get extra picks.

You may easily be right Ballhawk. Miller would fit nicely in this offense, I agree as a redzone TE he would more than likely play right away. On the other hand The Dave has been beating the David Baas drum for so long that I have begun to enjoy the tune. A talented OL guard would probably play very quick also. That being said I'm hoping we do trade down to gain more picks. I really don't think trading up is possible with out including future picks. I can't remember if Shanahan has ever used future picks.

I'm sure someone here on the mane would recall if he has?

If Denver wants a TE they should draft this guy.

Strengths: Shows terrific hads. Can catch the ball on the run adn makes catches over his shoulder. Is tough and aggressice after teh catch. Takes good angles into open-field blocks and is technically sound. Plays with a mean streak.
Weakness: Must add bulk and strength in his lower body. Lacks great pop as a blocker. Struggles to hold his ground at the point of attack. Must improve at running routes; doesn't break crisply.
Bottom line: Bergen's lack of quickness and speed raises concerns about his ability to separate from NFL defenders. He has enough potential to merit a fourth-round pick.

Im not sure where he will go but he is my biggest sleeper of the draft IMHO.

If Shanny dont have much luck trading up in the draft, I say he takes the best available player on the board and hopefully its a WR.

I'd rather get Alex Smith in the 2nd round.

If Miller does fall to our pick it'd be an excellent opportunity to trade out of the round, pick up an '06 first and hopefully an extra 3rd in this year's draft.

Like I said I would be cool with Miller because hes the best at his position. Its not often you can leave the 25th pick and still say that.

With Putz and Alexander, hopefully there is no way that we draft Heath Miller at #25. I think that he is slightly overrated just because he is the best tight end in the draft class. We need a playmaker whether it be a wide receiver or defensive back. I know some people want to go O line in the first round. There is plenty of good guards in the draft. We could get one in the second or third round, or later.
