Your Denver Nuggets Update!
Results from tonight's action:
Denver Beat the Clippers Lakers Lose To the Pacers T'Wolves Lose To the Grizzlies Nuggets Record: 34-30, 10-1 since the All-Star Break Currently in control of the 8th and final playoff seed, 2 1/2 games over both the Lakers and T'Wolves. Good times all around. |
good job. i will be strongly rooting for you guys to get the 8 seed over the Lakers. There is no team in the NBA i hate more than the Lakers.

It's amazing to watch the Nuggets not only win all these games, but it's the way they're playing that really amazes me. I almost can't believe that this is the same team we saw earlier this season.
They're unselfish, they're deep, they're running, they're playing hard and it's all paying off. George Karl has done some good things, but it's looking like no move was better than bringing Doug Moe out of the stands as a consultant and on to the bench as an assistant coach. Look no further than the things I just mentioned that they're doing, that's exactly the style of play that Doug Moe's Nuggets teams of the 80's employed. I have to give Kiki a lot of credit because I was critical of him earlier this year. He basically swapped Rodney White & Skita for Eduardo Najara & Wesley Person. Two guys who were practically useless for two guys who've been valuable role players since they came on board. Najara is that hustle guy that fans love, he's Ryan Bowen with some talent. Person has had a profound effect on the shooting of the entire team. The Nuggets 3 point shooting percentage is up from around 30% to around 49% since Person was signed. And he made these additions without giving up Nene (who should be back next week), the guy that ever team he talked to about a trade wanted to acquire. Believe it or not, the Nuggets may actually get some more depth before the postseason. Voshon Lenard is ahead of schedule and is practicing with the team. He's nowhere near game shape and would only get a couple of games to tune up before the playoffs under the most ideal circumstances. But man, if he came back this is a pretty damn deep team that could make life difficult for a high seeded team in the playoffs. Keep it up boys! |
Real interesting to see/hear Dan Issel tonight on the broadcast. I remember before All-Star weekend there was this huge article in one of the papers about how he didn't want to come back to the organization, because he still felt bad about how he left it.
Came out of nowhere tonight to be the 3rd man calling the game. |
Remaining Schedule For March:
3/20 vs. Milwaukee 3/22 vs. Washington 3/24 vs. Los Angeles Lakers 3/26 vs. Sacramento 3/28 @ Phoenix 3/30 @ Utah Ideally, would love to go 5-1 here, losing probably @ Phoenix. I could deal with a loss to Sacramento, but at home they should pull that out. Above all, the Laker game is a must-win. |
With Brad Miller out, there's no reason to lose to Sacramento. The Nuggets front line should be healthy by then and with no Chris Webber or Brad Miller down low, they should own the paint. So long as the perimeter defense doesn't go to **** (which it shouldn't since the Kings don't have a single player who demands a double team in the post) they should be able to take care of them, especially at home.
And yes, the game against the Lakers has to be circled as the biggest game of the year to date. |
Congrats guys on turning the season around, looks like you're playoff bound afterall. Just wish my team was playing as good as the Nuggets are right now, we got schlacked by the 76ers tonight.
|
The TWolves - Grizzlies game was a win-win situation.
I'm glad that we got that extra cushion in the end though. Garnett had 31 and 19 tonight and they still lost .... While i "Hate" KG, i have an infinite respect for him as a basketball player. Espescially since i saw him break down and cry during that interview during all star weekend. Nuggets are .... 10 - 1 since the All Star Break and since Doug Moe came back down courtside. 17 - 5 since the George Karl era started. We still have 4 more home games in front of us w/ no back to backs over that stretch. |
If you told me the Nuggets would be fighting for a playoff spot at the beginning of the year I would have thought you were kidding me.
I really didn't think Karl would make that much of a difference. Doug Moe was there for Coach B but he didn't want to listen to him. I don't even want to see Issel in the stands. Has Alex English started to resurface yet? 5-1 or 6-0 It's all good. |
This is great. Especially for my Dad who is Nuggets fan. They are in control of their own destiny and the rest of schedule looks to be pointing them to the playoffs. Keep it up Nuggets!

Gotta get the 7 seed.
|
Agreed Nuggets...getting into the playoffs is nice but being the 8th seed will guarantee an early exit thanks to the Spurs. Getting an 8th and we have at least a solid chance against the Suns.
This team is too good to only expect to get into the playoffs, they should be expected to win their first round at least. |
Its going to be tough to get the 7th seed, were 3 1/2 games back. What I'm really hoping for right now is for the Clippers to pass the Fakers in the standings. Its possible.
|
Bump. Nuggets gotta go to the top. Beat the Bucks, should be an interesting "subplot" with Karl going against his former team.
|
If we win tonight and the memphis loses to Phoenix we will be 2 1/2 back. They can make that up...heck they made up 4 games back to the Lakers to get where they are. Hell...I'm going all out and hoping they get the 5th seed :)
|
Don't think five is Realistic, but then, no one had thought they'd be where they are now, Who knows? But, they still have to keep winning, and not let the Lakers back in. I do believe that seventh is feasible.
|
Memphis lost to Phoenix, so if the Nuggets win tonight they'll climb within 2 1/2 games of them for the 7th spot.
Also, Minnesota plays Houston and the Lakers play Seattle. If they both lose, combined with a Nuggets win, it'll give Denver a 3 1/2 game lead over both for the 8th spot. Lot of scoreboard watching going on. :) |
Lakers lost Odom I heard... Which takes away their only feasible second option behind Kobe on offense.

Sweet, nice win tonight. The nuggs are finally beating the teams they are suppossed to beat, and taking a few from the upper level teams. Got to take care of the home court, and steal a few on the road. Look out Griz, the nuggs are coming!!!
What the rest of the West is looking at!! |
18-5 under George Karl and winners of 11 of their last 12. It's hard to believe that this is the same team that was 17-25 at one point and no one thought they'd win 35 games this season. Now they sit at 35-30 and in the drivers seat for a playoff spot.
Keep it up boys! |
Nugs Rule...everyone else drules!!
Lame but who cares |
