Pictures from mars... what do *you* see?
Trees?
Brad Pitt? Geez.. This is a tough one. I see what it apears to be a Shape of a Kangaroo.
Picture from mars of the Earth, or pictures of Earth from Mars?
Or Pictures from Mars of other places in our solar system? |
Snow, ice, or water. One of the two :)
It looks like trees to me...

I looked at one of these with MS photo editor...rotated and zoomed in a bit...it still looks like rock to me.
Could be rocks. I didn't zoom and rotate yet.

What little i know about mars... I would guess various kinds of rocks!
Looks like some kind of vegitation ....... black and white photos are hard to interpret , but from what I understand , plant life could exsist on mars , as long as there is water .....

Rocks is probably more likley, but nasa said they want to plant a tree on mars too.... |
still looks like ice or snow to me.
Earth first , we have plenty of time to screw up the other eight planets ;D

First they have to introduce lichen's and mosses to kickstart the ecology again, all after warming the place up about 60 degrees average temperature with greenhouse gasses. Then, tree's can be introduced, then, in another 50 thousand or so years humans will be able to live and work on Mars in a "normal" environment (normal with air quotes because of course they wont be increasing the gravity Mars as that is technologically impossible at the moment so you will be much lighter) In that picture I see what appear to be various rocks lying about an ancient and now dry river bed. THe appearance of "trees" is a trick of the angle of photography and is commong on earth based pictures of rocky plains, particularly in Nevada and Utah. I guess though, it all comes down on what you want to believe. There are those out there that, despite clear evidence to the contrary, believe complex life forms still exist on Mars and there is no evidence to support that there were or ever has been. While it is likely that some sort of vegetation existed on Mars at some point, the temperatures and climate of Mars today makes that possibility extremely unlikely. |

Eh, we can wait 50 more years until we get the technology to make it feasible. I mean, whats 50 years when you are talking about 50 millenium?
I don't think there are TREES on mars, but it looks like it. I think it's cool though, maybe it can spur some good imagination and get some kids in this country interested in science.
I found the dry river bed looking structure to be far more interesting than the rocks that look like trees. Running water on Mars is something that really gives credence to the whole life on Mars business. Maybe not now, but rivers and oceans at one time SURELY meant life!
maybe life is living in side mars.
The one thing that makes me scared is that there was life there and something killed the life off. Now it lies dormant waiting for some fools to bring it back to life. Sure it sounds sci fi but hell but who knows the micro could kill have the world. Still to me it looks like water or where water used to be.
It looks like Kansas or Nebraska to me - the kind of place a Chiefs fan would choose to live.
lol
i love this though - it's stuff to make us wonder. I mean we have places on earth we haven't even been to yet, but anything to get imagination going is a-ok with me |

Mars, unlike Earth, does not have enough gravity to keep a thick enough atmosphere for life as we know it to survie (save for microbial life). It is not out of the question there is living microbial life on Mars right now, as we have found that microbes can grow in nearly any environment imaginable. To date, it still has had to be liquid water present, but that does not rule out the possibility of microbes existing in an environment without liquid water. Or, another plausible explanation (and far easier to repeat) is that an asteroid or comet smashed mars and did irreparable damange to the ecosystem. OR One of the many moons that once existed around Mars impacted so greatly that it disrubted things enough to kill everything off. (Mars is thought to have had 10 or more moons in the past, Deimos and Phobos will both eventually fall into Mars as their orbits are slowing), OR Life never existed there in the first place and the requirements for life are more than just liquid water. Who knows. Its fun to speculate though. |
