Missouri INT in OT sends CU to Big 12 Championship Game!

WHOO HOO! They have played bad all year but persevered long enough to pull out a big 12 championship game bid in the process! As in 2001, anything can happen when you get in the game, just look at CU then and KSU last year.

Missouri picks off an ISU pass on the goaline to win the game and send CU to the Big 12 Championship game! YES! I'm so pumped!

That was awful play calling by ISU at the end. The refs were terrible as well.
I feel bad for that kicker.

Go Buffs

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo oooo!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously crazy year. The CU Program was all but written off for the year at about week 4 of the season. I will admit to buying into all the hysterical media press about the deplorable condition of the program and am now realizing that like so much of what passes for "journalism" these days had very little based in reality.

85 Kids had to listen to the Govenor of the State proclaim them as "an embarrassment to the State of Colorado" and then play their guts out when they could've folded tent. Barnett has been publicly crucified and after having let an Investigative Journalist spend the whole season with access to every meeting, closed door session, game preparation and locker room situation, the national media have no interest in printing what the guy learned. Which is nothing.

Two independent studies were conducted in regards to all the allegations which came out early in the season. One by the Colorado Attorney General's office. Over 400 previous recruits interviewed. The result? No evidence of any mass scale wrong doing. Yet, last week on Good Morning America cutsie Katie Couric still lumps in "the situation at Colorado University" in trying to figure out why Ron Artest is merely a victim of sports facism.

Anyway, I think more highly of Gary Barnett now more than I ever did in the past. To get that program anywhere this year is nothing short of a miracle. Hats off to the Buffs.

Shweeeettt!!

Ah, Folsom Field, Brings back memories! WOW, seeing that photo, just crazy!!

Back in the late '80s, I knew somebody on the club Lacross team, and a bunch of us used to go to the games on saturday. (not during the football season). We would bring in a Keg of Beer and carry it down to the front row of seats! we would party and BS and sorta watch the game, and after it was over, all the players would grab a cold one. And the party would just start from there... It became quite an occasion...

Ah, those were the days. Folsom Field brings many memories, and most of them were good... ;D

Congrats to Barnett and the Buffs. I dropped my season tickets seveal years ago so that I could get to a wider variety of games. Only went to two games this year, Texas and OK St. Never saw a team look as bad as they did against OK St and I did not think they would win another game.

Now they need to get on to serious business and run off Hoffman and the rest of that worthless administration. Mary Keenan should be disbarred and removed from office for the way she has conducted herself. And someone needs to give Owens a swift kick in the A$$ too.

Big guy, that was the game I went to as well! I loved it because it was my first CU game at Folsom but hated it because the play calling looked TERRIBLE! The team looked stale and terrible. I seriously thought after that game, CU would be lucky to win another one. I figured Klatt was too sporadic, Purify too fragile and honestly not enough talent on either line or at the WR's position. They have come back to prove me wrong. I still am skeptical of Barnett's coaching ability, ability to improvise and recruit but I will not question his heart and love for CU. I hope he can get this program to where it seemed to be going a few years ago... RTD. Return to Dominance.

Just being at CU... there is no reason why this shouldn't be a top 15 program each year. They have the best facilities, stadium, fan base, ect. I know the staff is against the program but that can be turned around with dedication and community work.

I hope something magical can happen against OU. I would love to see CU wreck some BCS bowl matchups and crash in on a new years day bowl!

CU winning would be the best thing for the BCS actually. Right now, we have three teams to fill 2 slots (USC, Auburn and OU), not to mention Utah, undefeated Utah, will be playing the Big East champ (which could be 6-5 Syracuse). If CU wins, Utah would get a team like Texas or OU and CU would play the worst BCS game ever against Syracuse/Pitt.

Play2win 11-27-2004 04:50 PM

I used to get in for free, because they couldn't sell the tickets. Pre-McCartney. That was when we were cellar dwellars.

I remember the first time we beat The Cornhusters (in my lifetime)!! Cambell on the reverse for the winning touchdown!! That was a crazy day and a wild night in Boulder!!

Play2win 11-27-2004 04:53 PM

What do I remember the most about Folsom Field?

Without a doubt, The CUP FIGHTS in the student section!!!! :militia:

That was sooooo sweet! When ISU got down to the 2, I figured it was over. Got to hand it to the Big Mo, they never caved. I was wondering, after the sack, why would Dailey throw that pass, but then I remembered their kicker had already missed one chip shot, why leave it to him? This is sweet. The Buffs get their shot! I don't know how much chance they have against the Sooners, but hey, they're in the game. Anything can happen with the funny shaped ball. All I can say (again) SWEET!

No way in hell will the BCS, or each bowl committee, allow Utah and the Big East champ play, that's just murder for ratings.

What it'll most likely look like is this:

Oklahoma vs. USC - Orange Bowl
Auburn vs. Utah - Sugar Bowl
Michigan vs. Cal - Rose Bowl
Miami vs. Pitt - Fiesta Bowl.

Utah vs. Pitt would rank up as the ultimate worst game, even worse than that Notre Dame vs. Oregon State match-up. They won't give the at large bid to play the Big East winner, if they haven any dignity.

God, theres no need to put us football fans through that. True Pitt will get blown out regardless of who they play, but it make for a better storyline/game if they play Miami or VT, who was a Big East school last year.

Utah should play a tougher school and Auburn in the Sugar Bowl it should be, give the Utes what they want, a chance to truly prove themselves as a non-BCS school and give them a tough Auburn team to see how they stack up with the big boys in the top 5 this year.

Ugh, Miami vs. Pitt in the Fiesta Bowl would be a real downer. At least we'd surely end the UM Fiesta Bowl curse ('85 vs. UCLA, '87 vs. Penn State, '94 vs. Arizona, and '03 vs. Ohio State*) with a relatively easy game vs. our former Big East rivals.

The BCS should drop the Big East champion from the Fiesta or Sugar this year, though still pay them (Pitt or Syracuse) the money they earned as the Big East BCS representative. Then let Louisville or Texas take the empty Big East BCS slot. I'd love to see Louisville get another chance at a big school. That team is for real. Louisville vs. Auburn and Miami vs. Utah wouldn't be bad.

Even better would be USC vs. Oklahoma in the Orange, Utah vs. Auburn in the Sugar, Cal vs. Michigan in the Rose, Miami vs. Texas in the Fiesta, and the winners of the Orange and Sugar playing for the national title in Jacksonville a week before the Super Bowl.

Nuggets4 11-27-2004 08:28 PM

I don't mind the Big East getting a bid because it'll screw Texas over. I always enjoy that.

Hey Texas! Motel, Hotel, HOLIDAY BOWL! AGAIN!!

They don't like it when you chant that. :D
