I can't wait for baseball to be over!

I want the Sox to sweep to get the baseball season over with. I can't stand baseball anymore. Is anyone else with me. Only sport more boring to watch is NBA in my opinion.

PatsWin2002 10-26-2004 10:32 PM

I disagree.

I think Baseball is the best of all the major sports when it's at its best. It may seem like a day-to-day grind, but October is the best.

Hogan11 10-26-2004 10:39 PM

You want me to enjoy MLB again fully? Put in a hard salary cap, then maybe.....

All but a few select would love that, but it'll never happen sadly...

baja 10-27-2004 03:36 AM

If it were not for the Red Sox being in the World Series I probably would not be watching and I used to be a big base ball fan.

I agree with Hogan base ball needs a cap, I am almost as glad that the Yankees lost as I am it was the Red Sox that beat them.

Darkhawk24 10-27-2004 06:03 AM

What being a fan of a farm team to the select few big teams isn't fun for most fans? That's shocking!!!

FADERPROOF 10-27-2004 12:45 PM

Even as a Dodgers fan, I'd like to see a cap. I'd rather take the blow of not having a good season every year compared to all teams have an even competitive edge.

It's never going to happen thugh, not as long as the Yankees and Red Sox are up in the salary. They want the rivalry, they are going to do whatever possible to make sure the Yankees and the Red Sox battle it out for 1sat place in the division, and battle it out in the ALCS every year.

They'd also have to do away with the guaranteed contracts, something the players union will never agree to. It would only work bad for teams who have players locked up for 7-10 years to have to cut due to salary but still have to pay it to them.

All a pipe dream, but something I'm still dreaming for...

watermock 10-27-2004 01:05 PM

I'm about ready to do a poll on the body count when Boston wins the series.

BritBronco Maniac 10-27-2004 01:21 PM

To be honest, I lost all interest once Houston went out.
All the drama was in the LCS's
So far Boston have removed all drama from the series. This is the Red Sox we are talking about right? Surely they have to choke tonight?

I'm all for a cap too. I don't like seeing NY in the playoffs every year. Other cities have loyal fans too....for now. The longer they have no chance their numbers will dwindle. Teams like the Pirates, Brewers, Royals, Devil Rays need planetary alignment to make the playoffs.

The Yankees throw money at every free agent they wany and fix every midseason hole with a ton of dough.

I know I won't get any sympathy as a fan of a team with a $130 million payroll, but it's no fun playing for the Wild Card every year either.

I say make it fair for everyone.

The Dodgers rarely have a good season even without a salary cap. They're Exhibit B in the argument that a large payroll doesn't ensure success. The Orioles would be Exhibit A.

baja 10-27-2004 07:26 PM

Your wish is about to come true - the baseball season in almost over.

True, with the way the management has been running the team, hopefully with DePosta as the GM, Dodgers can clear up the past problems and keep on going to the playoffs.

That's crazy talk. October is great, but you're not thinking properly.

Hogan11 10-28-2004 07:39 AM

I just can't wait for NASCAR to get over with....at least college football keeps it off the TV's in the bars now...so things are improving.

No. Baseball is the best when it's at its best.

And thanks for the negative rep.

Good point

So what if there is no cap.

When was the last time the Yanks won the series?
How bout Boston untill last night?

Arent they the highest in payroll along with Balt and LA.
LA 1988
and Balt who cares!

Most people that cant watch baseball and consider basketball boring are most likely boring themselves and need a bonecrushing hit to get them pupmed and watch football for the action and not strategy and post retarded posts and I never talk sports with them because there is no point.

How can you consider basketball boring?

Blows my mind.

labronx 10-28-2004 08:47 AM

Another Thing I also think that there should be a cap, however, that is not going to fix competive balance.

Sorry teams are just sorry teams. Plus sports work in cycles just like everything else in life. There was a point when Pittsburgh won some WS and Millwaukee was a a perenial play off team and so was KC they have a HOFamer and Ring to show it.

I want a cap just to humble steinbrenner who thinks he owns the World Series.

College hoops are good to watch but the NBA? Just a bunch of Thug Leon's trying to have the best stats and biggest houses. NBA was awesome in the Bird magic era but now it is fire up a 3, Try to dunk, fire up a 3, try to make sportscenter. I bet you will find a lot of people with the same opinion. Not much strategy in NBA anymore. I'll try to make more threes than you, if not throw it to the tallest guy and let him try to dunk.

I grew up watching the NBA when it "Fantastic" mid to late 80's. I know good basketball when I see it.

I also see how the college game has been degraded by the exodus of young talent to the NBA.

however, the issue I argued was basketball not being exiting. I think it still is when you have a close game regardless of the quality of fundemantal play on the court.

I too am burned out by the lack of fundamentals, blame Jordan for the dumbing down of the NBA at least you are on the same track as me when it comes to Bird and Magic.

Everything changed once Jordan became "the man."

I agree with the point that the NBA changed for the worse once Larry and Magic left.

However, I don't think you can blame that on Jordan. If he'd had a worthy adversary like Bird/Magic then the height of the 80's could've been continued IMO.

Actually let me retact a little. I dont completely blame Jordan, however, most of these young kids idolize the "Nike Air Jordan" way of basketball which is the way he played back when Magic and Bird where around, you know the slam dunk champ scoring 63 points in a game, however, they fail to idolize the fundamentals he later developed and ultimately won him his rings.

todays kids are more about ME or I and being hot dogs on the court. Magic and Bird where TEAM first US. That I blame on Jordan.
