CU vs ISU -- To Quote The Ben Folds Five....

"The Battle Of Who Could Care Less".

I'm gonna do my part. My best friend is coming up from Albuquerque (he graduated from CU last May) and another really good friend is coming down from Greeley to go to the game. Unfortunately, we have to rely on the CU coaching staff to go home happy. That scares me.

* Can Cox lead the team? If he struggles, does the quick leash come out and who replaces him? Klatt or White?

* Is Purify healthy? Even if he is, does it matter after the incredible game that Lawrence Vickers had last week?

* Will our WR's and TE's be covered in stick-um from head to toe? If not, can I smack the equipment manager around?

* Can the D continue the strong play from the first half last week without giving up the two dumb plays?

* Will the 11:30 kickoff (EARLY) hurt the team?

* CAN WE STOP THE BLEEDING?!?!?

CU 24, ISU 13.

You're right about the coaching staff. Barnett just signed an extension in the off-season, I think for 3 more years. He won't quit because he gets a 2 million dollar bonus at the end of the contract. And he won't get fired because CU can't afford to buy him out, and pay a new coach. We're stuck with him and his staff. The scandal ruined recruiting. I don't see much of a glimmer of hope. I just thought we'd at least have a good season or two before we fell back.

Those are all good questions...

The QB is only as good as his receivers ability to catch, so those questions will play out together.

We need Purify. He's still the best back. Vickers gives us hope, however.

I never feel real confident in this D. They can be both dominating and dumb. Not sure what makes the difference.

Guess we'll see! The loser of this game will be in the basement all year, and may finish with a worse record than even Baylor.

Nevertheless...GO BUFFS! Still my team.

I am not going Saturday. I usually go with a friend that has only missed two games in the last 30+ years. Last week was the first time I ever saw him want to leave early. Bad effort - Hope a fire can be lit under their a$$.

Wow, this thread garnered a lot of attention.

I'm on my way to the game now. Early kickoffs really suck, especially when you only get 4 hours of sleep and you have a night ahead of you when you have a gig.

CU 24, ISU 13.

Damn Crosby's got a leg. A touchback from the Buffs 20.

Pezman 10-16-2004 06:29 PM

Well... I Tivo'ed the game and watched most of it... I have to say, when the kicking is the only reliable form of scoring for our offense, we are in trouble. But, the defense looked very good against a suspect offense that has fine tuned the art of self-destruction. When they had to use their third string kicker to get some points, you knew ISU was boned...

Good win over a mediocre team. Klatt and Co. escaped with a sloppy win on offense and for one week, all is well... GO BUFFS!

BlueDamsel 10-16-2004 06:31 PM

You kinda gotta feel bad for the ISU kicker though...
To miss a 24 & 25 yarder & watch Crosby go on to kick 60 & 56 yarders...then almost split the uprights on a kickoff...hehehe.

We have the dumbest coaching staff in America. The Cox/Klatt fiasco is stupid. If you're trying to motivate Klatt, there are better ways to do it. That said, if you're trying to ruin Cox's confidence for the rest of his career -- MISSION ACCOMPLISHED (copyright 2004 G.W. Bush). Personally, I'm in the camp that Klatt should have never been benched. That said, Cox got the shaft this game. I'm betting White will be starting next week.

And to those of you that think that the student section is visciously against Klatt because of the chanting, I can guarantee, most people were chanting "We Want Cox" because it had "Cock" in the chant.

I went to the game with one of my best friends from UNC in Greeley. He hadn't seen a CU game all year. That said, he was able to correctly predict what play we would run on offense around 40% of the time. We got lucky. ISU missed two field goals and we got 10 points off of them botching punts. Reverse those two things and suddenly we lose 20-9. To Iowa State. *shudder*

Crosby's a badass. He needs to elevate his extra points more still, but holy hell. 60 yards. And it had teh length to clear 70+ yards.

Defense was pretty damn good again. Even the Ok State game wasn't as bad as the score indicated. Lord help me, but that might be the strong point of our team.

Worst part of the game? The marching band covered Beatles songs. BLASPHEMY! Blue, I'm blaming you for this one.

Up next, aTm. I'm thinking it's good that that game isn't on TV.

Saulbadguy 10-17-2004 04:31 PM

Nuggets4, I'm going to steal your title idea for next weeks game, KSU vs NU.

Nuggets4 10-17-2004 04:32 PM

Works for me. We'll just keep using it for CU vs KSU and CU vs NU as well.

BlueDamsel 10-17-2004 04:34 PM

Har no blaming of me...
I'm not in the band anymore...! :p

Nuggets4 10-17-2004 05:33 PM

I never was in it, so it can't be my fault. That automatically shifts the blame to you.

BlueDamsel 10-17-2004 05:59 PM

Blame Pez - he was in it for longer!!!

Nuggets4 10-17-2004 06:55 PM

DAMN YOU PEZ! I'm surrounded by band geeks!

Yes, I realize the irony of that as I'm a music major. Let me be. I have two mid-terms tomorrow, am running on 9 hours sleep for the weekend and had a gig last night in Greeley. Critical thinking is not my strong point right now.

BlueDamsel 10-17-2004 07:52 PM

Good luck on your midterms tmrw...

May you kick their asses harder than the Broncos on the Fade today.... :D

Nuggets4 10-17-2004 08:28 PM

Oh, that's not gonna happen. One of 'em I'm not doing my best on but the Prof/TA aren't helping any either. The other one should be fine.

BTW, when you gonna make it up here for a game? Only two more opportunities!

BlueDamsel 10-17-2004 08:31 PM

when are the games? How much for a ticket?

Biggest problem is that Saturdays are my sleep in days..

Nuggets4 10-17-2004 09:37 PM

10/30 - Texas
11/13 - KSU

They're rediculously expensive -- $50 each. If you still have a student ID, you might be able to get a student ticket for the game at $15. The CU board I post on sometimes has people selling tickets. I'll keep an eye out for you if you're intersted. You could also always go the scalper route. They were pretty desperate for the ISU game.

Hmmm...
Both right before Bronco home games... grrr

Let me think on this...

Hey Pezzy, you're gonna be in town for the KSU game, right? Shall we make it a party??? :p

BlueDamsel 10-18-2004 10:40 AM

Actually, if you hear of any tickets for the Nov KSU game, let me know...
The Texas game would be interesting, but I have people coming into town (ironically from Tx) that I need to go shopping with & etc...

Nuggets4 10-18-2004 07:31 PM

Will do. 2? Or more?

BlueDamsel 10-18-2004 10:36 PM

One for sure, 2 possible -- I just asked OrangeKnight if he wanted to go to a game & he said "uh sure why not?"...after just saying "no...I suck" or something along those lines...

Nuggets4 10-19-2004 08:49 AM

Atta girl. I'll keep an eye out.

BlueDamsel 10-19-2004 05:52 PM

Thanks hun.

I'll pm you with my contact info.

Saulbadguy 10-19-2004 07:50 PM

If Pez comes through I might be going to the CU-KSU game with him. Some sort of meetup would be cool. I'll be the one clad in purple. :D
