Virus help
 

I've managed to get a virus onto the machine and I'm not sure how to get rid of it. I run an anti-virus (from here: www.grisoft.com) and use spybot & adaware, but nothing will get rid of the thing.

So far its nothing TOO serious, just strange annoying virus-type symptoms.

Whats the next step in getting rid of this thing? I'm fairly naive with computers and I'm not sure what to do.

I had some luck with search and destroy. I get lazy but Norton's Pro is on this computer and search and destroy cleaned up some junk.

Do you know the name of the virus?

honestly, i don't.

i got stupid and downloaded one of those porns that has a "you are required to click here before you can view this mpeg" warning attached to it. i assumed i'd only end up getting some minor thing my anti-virus could erase. but i use 2 spyware removers+the antivirus and the thing still goes undetected.

So when you run the AVG scan does it pick up the virus? Scan your whole system and tell me what it says.

Oh ya, if avg does find a virus , it may not be able to cure it. If so it will go to your virus bank, or whatever they call it. Youll have to go in there and find the name. It will be like something.exe . If you can find that I think i can help.
