music to read to - recommendations?
anyone have any recommendations to good music which one can turn on, relax, and read a book while listening to?
i used to always turn on some good trance... paul oakenfold's voyage into trance, george acosta's awake. anything with good instrumentals that stimulates the mind. the brainiac kinda stuff that you'd hear in barnes and nobles. |
some miles davis - i love jazz when i read....

Classical. Wagner, Beethoven, etc... Film scores are also good. Especially John Williams (Star Wars, Harry Potter), Randy Edelman (Dragonheart, Gettysburg), James Horner (Titanic, Troy) and Jerry Goldsmith (Star Trek 1 and 5). It really depends on what you're reading. I like to listen to Jethro Tull while reading "The Lord Of The Rings." Dunno why, it just seems to work well. Ben |
I generally read best with total silence....if I was to have some background music, I would probably perfer some light jazz or something like Brian Eno's ambient stuff.

some slipknot, korn is good to read too...
but seriously if i ever read i usually put on a soft r & b song, like akon jagged edge or pretty willie. |
thanks for the responses, guys.
i'm gonna have to check out miles and eno's stuff. been putting both off for too long. someone else mentioned robert rich, i think i might check into that too. |

Mosco-
Check out Marc Antoine. :Urban gypsy. It's classical, jazz, latin & gypsy type guitar. Great stuff for background music but not so over powering that you'll get distracted by it unless you're a big guitar fan. (no lyrics) which is key. Check it out and let me know what you think. |
