Elway starting to get Criticized

NFL circles are now starting to talk about John Elway and his ability to not assemble a quality defense.

I'm told it is similar to the knock on Mike Shannahan

It looks like the Del Rio hire may have been a bad one, and the lack of depth on the defense is quite literally going to cost the broncos any shot at a superbowl

He is being roundly questioned on Paris Lenon, Omar Bolden, Sylvester Williams.

Rodgers Cromartie is a still a plus, but there is lots of skepticism about his ability to build a balanced roster.

… and it's bull****. Trevathan has had a great year. Knighton, great year. Wolfe has been a great run defender. Von Miller has been great thus far in his career, outside of stupid off the field incidents. Shaun Phillips has been a great pickup. DRC, great pickup. Elway has done a good enough job, but nothing could have prepared this team for the injuries they've had. Been sorta unbelievable.

ZONA 12-12-2013 10:44 PM

11-3 Elway should just say scoreboard b****es. Sure we lost this game and that sucks but it is what it is. We're still 11-3 and all the critics can suck Elway's dick right now.

TD4HOF 12-12-2013 10:45 PM

Clady, Wolfe and Champ going lame in the preseason. Our best fatboy run defender. Our best safety. Wolfe nearly dying on a bus.

Not to mention the disruption of Fox's medical leave. Del Rio maybe lost a little focus on his real job?

wolf754life 12-12-2013 10:46 PM

i think he is also being penalized for the mile high expectations manning has brought, he knew this was part of the deal

he won't flinch, he is really on the clock next offseason

stoxman 12-12-2013 10:46 PM

Many of us here certainly are. I liked the DRC, Pot Roast and Philips pickups but Stewart Bradley, Quentin Jammer and Paris Lenon sucked. He saw how bad our Db's were and didn't account for the decline of Champ to get more help at CB and just stood pat with Rahim "The Nightmare" and Mike Adams (fail). I know he pursued Woodson and was rebuffed but we needed more attention here.

If we go one and out again he deserves some blame after even allowing the Dumervil fiasco to go down to the wire like it did and having a team this far out of balance.

Where did you hear this?

And how many negative threads do you plan to make this week? Thanks!

kappys 12-12-2013 10:49 PM

If you think this defense is bad remember what we had under McD.

It is fair to say that most of Elways bad picks have been defensive ones. Boldin, Irving, possibly Sly(although I think he is actually progressing well the last 3 weeks and outside of the top 10 you rarely see DT's make an immediate impact). Nobody bat 100 in the draft and we have been quite unlucky with injuries. What would the defense have looked like if Quentin Carter and Rahim Moore were playing at 100%?

free country, or orange mane dictatorship? thanks!

My biggest criticism of Elway is that he hired John Fox. That's when our ceiling was permanently lowered just below greatness (read titles). Everything else is simply the natural result of that.

We should have nabbed Kerry Rhodes and Karlos Dansby. Could have had both cheap. One is still out there too.

After 1 season with majority of the starters out?

You're so full of ****.

This defense is every bit as bad, and probably much worse. I really don't think people are understanding exactly how bad our defensive problems are.

No, men who kiss men aren't allowed in the NFL. Murderers, rapists and sociopathic bullies are ok. Get with it.

just listen and watch the reports, this was an NFL network game, lots of league insiders in town tonight, lots of mingling about, lots of talk, 6 degrees of separation.

lets just put it this way, elway will not be getting anywhere near the kudos as he was last season and now the league is very skeptical of his roster building....

*sniff sniff* I love the smell of a good lynch mob in the wee hours. Elway Fanantics, Unite!

phisig150 12-12-2013 10:55 PM

When his whole Dfense actually plays together one snap then I'll judge. Champ out almost whole year. Miller almost half the year. Rahim out. Wolfe out. Vickerson out. Woodyard was banged up. Am I'm missing anyone?

Woodyard hasn't been the same since his owwie, too.

Oh yeah DRC. But other than half our D and let's not forget half our Oline and head coach for Christ Sake we've been relatively healthy.

Dansby was a no brainer--I made a thread here a few yrs ago saying we should trade for him from Miami who was horrible and may have wanted draft picks.

I also thought Lavonte David would be superior at a need position for a team making a run than Osweiler to sit the bench or even Wolfe. He is a top flight LB right now.

Sigh.

theAPAOps5 12-12-2013 11:02 PM

A Broncos loss is Wolf's favorite thing. Coward doesn't show up until it happens and then just loves it.
