Sione Fua

DT added after Vick goes to IR. Anyone know anything about this guy?

* former Panther, but came in after Fox was already in Denver. Possible that Fox still has connections, this dude was drafted by Hurney who definitely worked with Fox.
* young guy, only 25
* 6-2, 308 lbs
* was asked to move to guard this season in Carolina, cut the following week.

sounds like a guy they liked in Carolina but couldn't find a roster spot for. could be a great pick-up long-term.

Requiem 11-27-2013 10:36 AM

Well, guys like that get cut when you draft Star and Kawann. Next pls.

broncocalijohn 11-27-2013 10:37 AM

Yeah, he collects vowels more than sacks.

BMORE 11-27-2013 10:40 AM

They were experimenting with him switching to offensive line. He's there version of Ben Garland.

crush17 11-27-2013 10:47 AM

According to PFF, Fua played 53 snaps this season for a minus-1.5 grade, 256 last season for an atrocious minus-12.4, and a 408 snaps as a rookie for a minus-7.4 grade.

Smiling Assassin27 11-27-2013 10:48 AM

Did they have him run a 40?

Sly_Eli 11-27-2013 11:04 AM

PFF's run stop grades from last season

THIS ONE'S FOR FUA

broncocalijohn 11-27-2013 11:09 AM

He is so bad we contacted Mike Lodish first.

crush17 11-27-2013 11:10 AM

I don't understand why Bannan wasn't the first call.

To be fair, do we know that he wasn't?

stoxman 11-27-2013 11:15 AM

So Wolfe and Malik are strictly DE's now? They are certainly better at DE than DT...just curious as this guy better never see the field for us.

No, but do you think he'd turn the Broncos down?

I have no idea what he is doing, where his head is, and what he wants to do.

I have no idea who all they might have contacted.

Requiem 11-27-2013 11:25 AM

If only we could draft RaShede Hageman.

B-Large 11-27-2013 11:55 AM

sound like he sucks real bad. Welcome to the crush, Sione!

Dmac said yesterday that he spoke with bannan after hearing about vickerson, and he said that he is in shape, ready to go, waiting for a call. You would think they would bring him in just out of familiarity.

That's disappointing.. He knows the scheme well.

Jackson isn't an early-down DT in this system and it seems the FO prefers an anchor like Wolfe at DE on early downs and then they can move either or both inside in nickles and dime subpackages. At least that seems to be how they have been used thus far.

I would think so, but I'm not going to bag on the FO over something that may or may not have happened.

Honestly, I don't think it's a big difference either way. I'm sure there are some reasons why he wasn't called.

Rabb 11-27-2013 12:46 PM

1. Knighton is 59 on that list and is doing pretty damn well here, so perhaps the coaches can get something out of the new guy.

2. Don't listen to Dmac, ever. Pot stirrer to the extreme. If they wanted Bannan and he wanted to be here, he would be.

60 and 66 would probably make a lot of people happy here as well.

or maybe PFF's grading system is inherently flawed along with the notion that advanced or sabermetrics are a good way for outsiders to grade individual players
