Am I the only one concerned about Champ?

Unless I have missed something, the front office has been eerily quiet about Champ's injury and prognosis for recovery. Foot sprains can linger all season long (cue the lisfranc thread). Do they still have him listed as Questionable for a week 1 start?

08-27-2013 12:21 PM

I heard he rubbed some dirt on it.

Eldorado 08-27-2013 12:24 PM

Yup

08-27-2013 12:31 PM

Yeah, I'm concerned about it too. Considering he's still in a boot I find it highly unlikely that he plays week one. He needs all the rest he can get...we need him healthy for a playoff run

I heard John Fox say Champ is 'hopeful' for game 1 of the regular season. Look, they X-rayed it, MRI'd it, the only thing they didn't do was hold it up the to night sky and chant to the gods, and there was no structural damage.

It's a strain. If anyone here has ever strained their arch, you know how painful that can be, but it eases up like any muscle strain, and I bet Champ is back full strength very soon. Maybe not game 1, but soon.

Champ Bailey out of the walking boot while continuing to recover from sprained foot #Broncos

I am more worried about his age than his foot. He's 35 and we started to see some chinks in the armor last season. He still has some left to give, but I am not sure the front office will be jazzed about his 9 million dollar contract next season.

Kaylore come on now we say that stuff these days. LOL :poke:

i am all for letting him sit for the 1st week or 2 of the season. rather miss him early instead of in the playoffs.

I expect better from you. He had a bad game.

Again I will reinterate how several years ago Bowe had

a great game on Champ and this whole board said he was

done and over the hill. Well guess what.....next game against Bowe

Champ shut him out..........all you heard around these parts was

crickets. You don't get over the hill all at once.

Champ will be champ once again...................

Gutless Drunk 08-27-2013 02:15 PM

Need to put DRC on Torrey Smith. Time to realize Champs limitations.

I'd even say take first 4 games and have him 100 percent for 12. The one thing I don't want to see is him at 80 percent out there with Torrey Smith on an island.

DRC is a good fit for that coverage too. Smith doesn't have great quick moves, he's more just straight ahead speed. That's DRC's strength as well. No doubt I would use DRC on Smith game 1.

It's only racist if you capitalize chinks.

It tends to happen two ways: gradually and then suddenly.

I think you'd be surprised at just how suddenly it can happen. You reach the top of that hill and it only takes the slightest push and you're accelerating down it.

I would argue that he's already done incredibly well to play at the level he has at DB for as long as he has.

Punisher 08-27-2013 03:08 PM

By all means i want Champ to make a speedy recovery, but the guy isn't even the Best CB in the team. If he doesn't make it to week one it's not a problem.

It's not a secret that Champ has gone from best defensive player in the NFL to just really good and not great.
