I don't live in Colorado. Is this a serious proposal?

(AP)-- A proposal to form a new state in northern Colorado is getting public support.

More than four dozen people showed up Thursday at the first public meeting to discuss a proposal to form a 51st state. Most of them said they support secession.

The should just ask to be a part of Wyoming instead.

They are seriously upset, but do you think congress is going to create a new state out of parts of Colorado?

crush17 07-26-2013 03:24 PM

They are dead serious.

Tombstone RJ 07-26-2013 03:27 PM

If I was these guys, I'd be sowing a new crop and selling it like it was on fire. That crop is marijuana. I'd sell the crap out of it. It's a friggen weed and I'd grow it and grow it and grow it and then sell it and sell it and sell it and then I'd tell the rest of th moron libtards in Denver/Boulder to choke on it.

Archer81 07-26-2013 03:41 PM

North-Eastern Colorado. Apparently they are a large energy producer for the state, and tired of Denver's overreach and regulations.

But I really really doubt that if they get what they need to actually meet the minimum standards for statehood Congress would allow it. Unless Puerto Rico takes the plunge too. Or DC itself.

They get enough signatures and get it on a ballot you never know how the vote will go.

48 people! Wow, I say that is a major following to pull it off. I take it Colorado is overrun by liberals and Californians so they don't want anything to do with the state. I will now read the article.

BTW, no one gets to form a new state until SoCal (minus LA) gets to break off from the rest of California. We would rule and kick ass.

Tombstone RJ 07-26-2013 03:50 PM

Wyoming is an energy producing state, I wonder if these counties can switch states? Why is this not possible?

specifically north eastern Colorado. Don't get me wrong they are all good people...... but other than for making a very accurate census data point 500 people is not a lot for a state.

Western CO FTW

07-26-2013 03:56 PM

dumb idea, not gonna happen

broncocalijohn 07-26-2013 03:58 PM

Does this include Fort Collins since it is so close to Wyoming? My cousin lives in Nunn which isn't far from FC. Is that part of that county?

Counties along I-76. Weld, Morgan, Washington, Phillips, Sedgewick, Yuma and Logan. 10 counties are talking about it, so I assume Lincoln and Cheyenne counties plus one.

I live in Fort Collins, adjacent to this sideshow.

It's a joke, a few crybabies stamping their feet because the state legislature passed a law they don't agree with. It will never happen.

broncocalijohn 07-26-2013 04:06 PM

Such a perfect square state and then they had to go make it look like a jigsaw puzzle like most other states. Huerfano? What the hell you thinking? Must follow a river.

Most of the state disagreed with the laws the legislature is coming out with. Outside of Denver and Boulder, those gun laws were not exactly embraced with open arms.

:Broncos:

Is the rest of the state threatening to secede? I don't even agree with the law myself, but these clowns are ridiculous.

Its a valid complaint. If an important part of the state wants to walk, you may have to reconsider the policies in place. And its not just the new ammo/gun restrictions. Its years of **** the rural parts of the state feel the cities get away with. Where I live people oppose anything involving Pueblo or Colorado Springs even if it would be an economic benefit.

There was talk about Nebraska wanting to split in half around the Grand Island area. I guess that part of Colorado could join us.
