OT - "The Bomber" Rolling Stone's Cover

Not sure if you all have seen this yet, but I was caught off guard by the insensitivity and audacity of RS to put this guy on the cover. He is not a celebrity, he is a terrorist and this only feeds his psycho supporters and puts this guy in the "limelight"... In my opinion this was very insensitive and disrespectful to the families and victims of the Boston Marathon bombing and I think any of the survivors would have been my obvious choice if they wanted to go that route.

This in my eyes is almost rewarding the guy, he gets his face on the cover of a very prominent magazine and from what it sounds like the article tries to make the readers sympathetic to the bomber.

Its very simple. They are trying to sell magazines. If you get all pissy and upset, and spread it around to your friends, they get exposure and win. If you ignore them, they lose. Delete thread.

Rolling Stone obviously knows how to sell copies. This has shock value, and of course people will buy it. Is it insensitive? I don't know, i wasn't impacted by the bombing...except for the fact that i'm so sick and tired of hearing about Boston. The one thing I was sure of when this happened was that we were going to be hearing Boston do what it does best and that is for it to talk about Boston.

I disapprove of Rolling Stone for this cover and story. A pox on their house.

Welcome to the new America. Where the left can do and say whatever they want without any consequences.

Ray Finkle 07-17-2013 07:33 AM

when was the last time someone actually read a copy of Rolling Stone?.....

And that's exactly why they're doing this.

Denver Bronco56 07-17-2013 07:58 AM

I dont disagree with the shock value and them wanting attention and readers, but it doesnt change the fact that it is a disrespectful article for a non-relavent magazine... to think that last couple cover people were ; Rihanna, Justin Beiber and Johnny Depp... they have to resort to this.

Dude since magazines were invented, they have been putting controversial people and mass murderers on covers. There is absolutely nothing "new" about it.

Smiling Assassin27 07-17-2013 08:16 AM

Though this is neither new or even shocking, for that matter, it does confirm just how out of touch with society RS now is, and/or how utterly deceitful and condescending toward society it is. Either one relegates it to the spare toilet paper closet of life.

I think the difference is they didn't use his mug shot but used a digital enhanced glamour shot to make him look like a cool dude.

07-17-2013 08:22 AM

They did it for shock value and attention. But they also did it for the idiots who put this guy on a pedastal. The stupid kids that hashtag free jahar on instagram. I bet if you go to instagram right now and look up that hashtag there will be pictures of this cover, with INSANE stupidity in the comments below the pics.

Kaylore 07-17-2013 08:24 AM

He looks like a rock star. It's too glamorous for a scum-sucking murderer.

Only took five posts to blame it on the libruls. Ha!

Archer81 07-17-2013 08:28 AM

Who put that idiot on the cover? was my first reaction when I saw this earlier. Now I am not entirely shocked. Didnt Rolling Stone put Charles Manson on one of its covers once?

Br0nc0Buster 07-17-2013 08:30 AM

Yeah just the way they presented it is a little unsettling

Almost trying to do like a Jim Morrison cover or something

Newsfash: Rolling Stone Magazing sucks. It has sucked for the better part of 30 years. It's music takes are on par with shallow and popular opinions and it's social commentaries are tantamount to hobo feces.
Who reads RSM anyway? I stopped reading that crapfest when I was in HS because I could not swallow most of it's music criticisims. Research what Rolling Stone Magazine first thought of Led Zeppelin and you will understand it's ability to comprehend good music.

Pure tripe.

LOL What type of "consequences" are you suggesting in this case? You might want to read the First Amendment.

Not the first time villians have made it on the cover of a magazine.

TheReverend 07-17-2013 08:54 AM

Rolling Stone is a dying, poser relic from previous generations anyway.

Denver Bronco56 07-17-2013 08:55 AM

That is ridiculous to include one of the best Presidents we have had, must have been a mistake...I would say you could easily put Obama in that group.

Rohirrim 07-17-2013 08:56 AM

For anybody who wants to OCD about it, here's all the covers Rolling Stone has printed:
