IAOFM "rational actor" mock draft

http://www.itsalloverfatman.com/bron...tor-mock-draft

They have the Broncos trading out of the 1st round, taking Damontre Moore at #35 and Johnthan Banks at #58.

Never heard of this site, have you ever linked anything else they've blogged about before?

Wow, he thinks Jesse Williams will fall to 90 for the Broncos, thinks Jarvis Jones is the best player in the draft, Ogletree has poor film, and Cornellius Washignton was underproductive at Georgia.

I almost quit reading when he said the future Bust Jones was the BEST player in this draft. Williams could fall to the bottom of the second, but bottom of the 3rd please. Ogletree is twice the player Jones is on film, he just is not smart and has off field issues. And, Washington's sole purpose was to protect Jones and allow him to freelance at Georgia.

Whenever Jones got touched at Georgia, he stayed blocked. He also washed out of so many plays cheating to make a big play its not even funny. Jones is going to struggle to adjust to the NFL offenses and players he is going to face at the next level. There is no NFL scheme like Georgia ran to protect him and free him up to make uncontested scheme plays.

A bit different than all the other mocks I have seen. I could live with this one.

shalowlow 04-23-2013 01:30 PM

Actually, this mock is based on what the author thinks teams should do rather than what he thinks might happen. Viewed in that context it makes more sense.

This same author made the prediction that the Broncos would pick Derek Wolfe last year, which of course the site is always willing to remind readers about.

spdirty 04-23-2013 01:45 PM

Soooo we will take a kicker in the 4th but won't take a running back. Ok.

Lestat 04-23-2013 01:58 PM

it's different but based upon what franchises should do.
still... not even close to what will happen. not even what should happen.

LOL! Tony does like him some IAOFM!

Mat'hir Uth Gan 04-23-2013 02:54 PM

It's a bad mock draft. Mainly because he doesn't understand the rosters of many of the teams.

I do think he might be right with Denver trading out of the 1st, and with the selection of Damontre Moore.

I think we'll stay at 28 and take Moore unless Eddie Lacy is still there.

gyldenlove 04-23-2013 03:10 PM

I agree with trading out of the 1st, in my own mock I actually have an unknown team do the same trade and picking Geno Smith at number 28.

I don't see us doing a draft without addressing MLB and RB early, those seem to be the biggest most obvious gaps on the roster. Banks in the 2nd is a luxury pick, he is a man cover cornerback and attempting to move him to safety is a bad idea. I don't think we pick DE early, my gut feeling is that Elway would be satisfied waiting to see if he can get value in the 3rd or 4th and if not then go back into free agency or trade.

You think we stay put?

Ted Barlett never has had a clue.

if we take a kicker in the draft i am going to flip the **** out. a kicker is never draft worthy. they can be had as UDFA and there is always someone on the market. plus we have Prater.

Requiem 04-23-2013 06:28 PM

I'd draft Dustin Hopkins.

Jason Elam wasn't a bad pick
Edit to add: even if you disagree w/ taking him in the 3rd (which in hindsight was a fine pick), it's hard to argue he wasn't draft worthy

while i agree that he is definitely draftable and if we didn't already have one signed to a nice little contract i would draft the hell out of him...
we have Prater signed to a nice little contract and we don't need to be carrying two kickers when one is pretty nicely paid.

Prater has 3 years left on his deal, no way in hell should we draft a kicker.
even with Hopkins golden boot worthy talent.

Br0nc0Buster 04-23-2013 07:13 PM

I could see Jesse Williams going in the third

In such pass heavy league a pure run stuffer is not really a hot commodity

If we draft an interior linemen early on, he will have pass rush ability

We have a bigs, we just need more quickness

Prater sucks, is way overpaid, and would be cut in training camp.

Overpaid, sure, but Denver doesn't sniff the playoffs in 2011 without Prater saving their bacon in a few of those games.

i'm not saying we shouldn't bring in some competition for him. i'm not even saying i believe he should be the starting K this season.
what i'm saying is, 3 years left on a 3 mil per year deal.
that's kinda tough to absorb by cutting when it's a kicker.

For Eddie Lacy or Damontre Moore, I think we would. Not sure for anyone else.

DBroncos4life 04-23-2013 10:53 PM

Funny story Matt Prater has been as good if not better then Jason Elam. Both had issues from 40-49 as well.

Matt Prater
73.5% 40-49 FGA 11 FGM 5
85.7% 40-49 FGA 10 FGM 8
88.9% 40-49 FGA 5 FGM 4
76% 40-49 FGA 7 FGM 3
81.3% 40-49 FGA 9 FGM 5

Jason Elam
74.3% 40-49 FGA 10 FGM 4
81.1% 40-49 FGA 12 FGM 7
81.6% 40-49 FGA 7 FGM 5
75% 40-49 FGA 10 FGM 6
72.2% 40-49 FGA 8 FGM 3

Now should we dump a kicker that is about the same caliber as a kicker that most Broncos fans think is a HOF type kicker or should price just shut the **** up!?!?!

cutthemdown 04-23-2013 11:47 PM

Prater doesn't stink but maybe we still draft a kicker if Elway see's one he thinks is very good. You get cheaper and kicker a spot that isn't cool to spend more then 1-2 mil a yr for. There are a couple draftable kickers this yr.

cutthemdown 04-23-2013 11:54 PM

Might be too many teams that want to trade down to make it happen. Maybe Elway will surprise you all and move up. If Elway moved up what players would be worth it.

For the Broncos i think. Sharrif Floyd, Chance Warmack, Kenny Vaccaro would be my top 3. All 3 of them would start for Denver first yr. Warmack you can play at center or guard which makes him very versatile.
