He is worth it @ #28.

socalorado 03-28-2013 12:30 PM

I see this. Or Carradine.

gyldenlove 03-28-2013 12:31 PM

I just don't see it, in our scheme the MLB has to cover a lot of tight ends in man coverage because Von Miller at SLB doesn't drop back in coverage much. Te'o is just nowhere near quick enough to cover anyone and he looks like a 2-down player which we can't afford right now.

ghwk 03-28-2013 12:31 PM

Not worth it

miller dropped back a lot last year. more than he should've imo. also, te'o is pretty good in coverage.

gyldenlove 03-28-2013 12:33 PM

Right now I have Damontre Moore, Eddie Lacy, Kawann Short, Arthur Brown and Desmond Trufant as the primary options.

He dropped back in zone some times but did very little man coverage. Te'o is decent in zone when he can cheat back, but in man coverage he is not very impressive - I wouldn't be comfortable with him matching up any tight end we are going to face.

bpc 03-28-2013 12:37 PM

I don't see it with him. He looked WAY overmatched against Bama. I think with all the drama surrounding him, Elway won't be jumping into a media-circus similar to what we had w/ Tebow. There's questions about this stupid fake death, his sexuality, his play, his speed, too many issues. Let somebody else be right or wrong on him.

He will get killed down the seam but I think he would be OK on running downs and in coverages played within 10 yards of the LOS.

I think after Tebow Elway will take a wide berth around Teo, he is the same type of zealot with a huge college fan base.

I think they will go CB in the 1st and RB in the 2nd or 3rd then look at LB's and DE's.

Houshyamama 03-28-2013 12:41 PM

I think if we selected him, I'd be more or less neutral about it. He's got this Tebowness about him, which worries me. He's been elevated to superstar, godlike status by his fanbase, but that doesn't mean he'll succeed at the next level. Great college players don't always make great pros.

Heard this on the NFL Network too. Said he couldn't shed blocks and was not an impact player in that game and that is the kind of talent he will see every week int he NFL. They attributed most of his success to how good his D line was all season against inferior competition.

KCStud 03-28-2013 12:48 PM

I don't see how this guy goes in the first round. He plays like he has 50 lb blocks attached to his feet.

BroncoInferno 03-28-2013 12:51 PM

He also has us taking Sio Moore in the 2nd. I don't see him as a fit for us. I like his teammate Trevardo Williams better if we are looking for a pass rush specialist.

Archer81 03-28-2013 12:57 PM

Way to step out on a limb, McShay.

ludo21 03-28-2013 01:22 PM

not sure thats the kind of media buzz elway wants here....

I would not mind the pick, i just do not think it will happen. I like Bostic in the later rounds

I see the broncos trading out of the first round

I don't think he will. I feel like he's going to go near the top of 2nd and if the broncos trade back 5-10 spots and still pick him up I think they'd be getting reasonable value

I wouldn't mind that. If we couldn't you could much worse than T'eo, but I'm not in love with him as a player. He fits a need and I'd trust Fox and Del Rio to get what they need out of him.

Personally, I think they are serious about letting someone on the roster right now fight it out for the spot at Mike and I think they'll pick someone less need-based.

I don't see that happening, unless they just don't want to pay first round money. The Broncos filled many of their needs, in FA. I don't see them needing to accumulate draft picks...

I wouldn't mind this. Trade out to a team like Philly who has the second pick of the second round.

Cosmo 03-28-2013 02:33 PM

Jerry Rice ran a 4.7 as a WR and it was very apparent it was lower than what he does in pads on the field.

Is it possible Teo might play faster than what his time indicates?

I'm all for drafting Teo. MLB is a need. Rarely does a DT help you right away, a MLB can.

cutthemdown 03-28-2013 02:35 PM

I love how people come in rehashing what talking heads say like they are scouts and know how good a player is.

He's too slow to be a 3 down player BS. You know how many linebackers of his speed play on 3rd down? There is a good chance he's a zone defender when it comes to the pass. He may not have from what i have a sudden enough change of direction to play man to man.

LOL welcome to the NFL Von Miller can't play TE 1 on 1 either. TE are 250 pounds and run 4.5's now.

I think the day has come where teams will have to use really special linebackers or dbacks to cover elite TE 1-1. They are more like WR now.

But reading about TEO they say he had a lot of interceptions and shows great football instincts. For a linebacker that is so important. How often did Joe Mays just run to the wrong spot, the wrong hole? Playing a zone defense is about understanding the route tree of your opponent. TEO made too many plays in college to be a player that has no chance in the NFL.

cutthemdown 03-28-2013 02:39 PM

Rice came from the era where players didn't have 4 coaches helping them run a faster 40.
