Do it.

And **** you very much, Roger Goodell. If the players union had any kind of leadership or balls they'd be fighting you tooth and nail on this.

Goodell is a joke. He only gets involved if it benefits him.

Only way Baltimore is involved with Doom is because Doom doesn't find a way to give us back that $4 plus million.

pricejj 03-18-2013 08:55 PM

Cool, Dumervil wants to switch positions now (to LoLB), and use the Broncos primary competition in an attempt to financially strap the team that has given him $37M in the last 3 years, and was about to give him $30M more?

Call me unamused.

Isn't the $4 million a cap figure? I thought they weren't actually paying it, but it still eats into their cap. If that's the case Dumervil isn't able to give anything back, what they can get back if anything would have to be structured into the contract to deal effectively with the existing cap hit.

I think the only way we can get him similar to the last deal is with a higher signing bonus over more years.

Anyways, I hope there is a quick resolution to this. I understand that he is a free agent now and has the right to make the best decision for himself, but really if this carries on more then a day or so, I hope we look elsewhere.

I'm expecting him to sign with Baltimore, anyways.

I dunno ... he was loyal and re-signed here despite the fact his 3-4 blowup could've made him one of the highest paid FAs ever. We return that loyalty by publicly demanding a cut, Elway sniping at the guy?

I think Elvis is a stone-cold goner, and we better sign somebody.

SonOfLe-loLang 03-18-2013 10:04 PM

Eh, this is gonna come down to who gives him more. Nothing more, nothing less.

At the end of the day Elway is the smartest guy in the room by far. If he wants Elvis he will end up a Bronco and if he doesn't John has plan B, C and D in place.

Don't completely rule out personal reasons ... gotta believe there's a wife/gf nearby who might have an opinion. Money, fine .,. but say you make $50k. Would you move to Baltimore for $60 k?

Jef, I'm a huge John-the-GM supporter, he has been the smartest guy for 2-plus years. I just don't see how those comments helped anything, his contract maybe is out of whack for a 4-3 team, but I can't believe that '09 season is forgotten. If NE doesn't make an offer, they are fools.

BroncoBuff 03-18-2013 11:12 PM

Lelo I'm guessing you live - based on your profession - Santa Monica/West L.A., or maybe Beverly Center/Fairfax District? For argument let's say you make $50k.

Now, would you leave all that behind to move to Baltimore for a $60k job?

cutthemdown 03-18-2013 11:38 PM

Broncos have the most drama in the offseason of any team. Last yr the Manning sweepstakes. The Cutler McDaniels fued. The Brandon Marshall yr of discontent. And now the Doomgate scandal of 2013.

My god how the NFL hasn't done whatever needed to get us on hardknocks is beyond me.

I didn't even mention the Timmy Tebow we love, we want, we hate, your gone blowout of 2012.

They should offer Elway an extra 3rd round pick to get him to agree to have The Broncos on the show.

Dumervil is one of the top 5 paid NFL players over the past 2 years, and was set to be in the top 10 again this year.

All of this could have been avoided, if McDaniels paid Dumervil more than a $1M cap hit for the first year of the contract. He really screwed us bad.

Probably not, but I would move to Baltimore for three years for $6M, especially considering that $6M is not 10% of my annual income, it's 10% of my lifetime income.

Taco John 03-18-2013 11:58 PM

I don't blame Elvis in the least. Get that money. You've got two Superbowl caliber teams bidding on you. Take the highest offer - just like anyone else would do.

If I made 39 million over the last two years.... and my choices are: make 5 million and stay in Denver... and lets say make 8 million and move to Baltimore - I'm staying in Denver.

Ravens are lucky to break .500 this year considering the way their defense has been gutted.

The ego it takes to become an NFL star might not ever be content, though.

That high ... granted, that sounds out of whack now. In the considerable shadow of Von Miller anyway. But Elvis has two straight Pro Bowls since the injury (voted in both times), and for that matter what might have happened in 2010, his second season in a 3-4? He'd already led the team in sacks every year - 06, 07, 08, and led the league in '09.

McD was a blight on our house, but at the time this deal wasn't nuts.

Lmfao. The drunk who made more stupid passes in his career than Tim Tebow or Jake Plummer could ever dream of and who hasn't done anything but luck into Peyton Manning is the "smartest guy in the room"?

Hilarious.

Correction: He has zero Super Bowl caliber teams bidding on him.
