Who do you think will take Doom?

Assuming he is released, which seems to be what's going on, which team do you think nabs him?

My fear is him going to the Steelers to replace Harrison or the Chargers.

Would have been nice to try and trade him to the Seahawks.

Can they afford him? I'm thinking no.

Requiem 03-11-2013 11:45 AM

I think that the team should try and trade him. If he hits the open market, teams will have to pay more than what his existing contract already is. I'd take whatever we can get for him. Seriously, we better trade him.

Steelers can't even come close to affording him. I think the Browns or possibly a Florida team would be real candidates - the Eagles could be a real outsider, they have a ton of salary cap space.

If he hits FA... NE would seem the most logical spot. I think also if either Tampa or Miami called, he would listen.

^ Good call on the Eagles. And they're switching to a 3-4 so perfect fit.

miami

Miami's defense was already sick retarded last year. If they get Dumervil they are going to go nuts. And they are loaded with picks. That team could be relevant again.

You think teams are going to pay more than $12 million for him? He is being cut (possibly) because he makes more than he is worth. I think teams are waiting until he gets cut so they don't have to take on that ridiculous contract.

The Patriots would easily be able to afford Dumervil at $10M per year.

The Broncos are trying to trade him, to avoid that scenario.

Whoever gets him will get 15 sacks and around 5 FFs IMO. While we plug in a few guys to replace him, who combined wont get close to those figures.

Right. Because he's approached those numbers since his '09 season.

falcons. They need a pass rush in the worst way.

TheElusiveKyleOrton 03-11-2013 01:23 PM

I think he'll end up in Miami.

Cost per year with guarantees, bonuses, etc.? Yeah. I'd say so.

His base salary continues to go down by ~1.5 million each year after this. I'm not sure how everything cap wise works, but we'd eat his bonuses in a trade and the other team would basically get him 3 years, 30 million in base salary. Any deal after a cut will likely garner the same results. Guess we will have to wait and see.

But no, if teams already know we will cut him, I doubt we get an offer.

Can only hope.

True enough, but they were ranked 30th against the pass, so I can see them wanting to find more ways to get pressure on the QB in combo with whatever they do to fix their secondary.
