It reads funny, but he's just trying to intimate how successful lower seeds have been overcoming a lack of home field advantage.

Really poorly expressed for sure, though

ColoradoDarin 12-11-2012 02:38 PM

Also, Super Bowl Champions are 46-0 in the Super Bowl.

Over the years, winning teams have complied a 1.000 winning percentage in the month of December.

Kaylore 12-11-2012 03:10 PM

Super Bowl winners are undefeated in their final game of the playoffs going back to 1993.

For it to make sense we need a point of comparison. Like "Pre-2005 Super Bowl winners had won a combined X games on the road. Super Bowl winners since 2005 have won 12."

broncosteven 12-11-2012 03:26 PM

Peter King also calls up SB winners who were low seeds and tells them they shouldn't have been in the SB.

broncocalijohn 12-11-2012 03:39 PM

That was the most moronic stat ever! How can you argue with that powerful statistic?

He should have told us about the guy that does the "I'm going to Disneyland!" commercial was 100% of the time on the winning team. True fact.

I disagree

Steelers were Super Bowl champions after they lost to the Seahawks

Nice try, but the refs won that matchup.

Oh screw it.

Super Bowl winners are also undefeated in their FIRST game of the playoffs dating back even earlier than 2004.

TheReverend 12-11-2012 04:04 PM

Little known NFL fact:

- No Super Bowl Champion has ever lost a Divisional Round Playoff Game

Since 1987.

I will probably regret being serious in this thread, but I can see that not everyone understands the significance of the statistic (and it does have significance), so here goes:

Was:
-Low seeds rule: Since 2005, Super bowl winners are 12-0 on the road in the playoffs.

Should be:
-Low seeds rule: Since 2005, Super bowl winners have played in 12 road games in the playoffs, an average of almost 2 per year.

DAN_BRONCO_FAN 12-11-2012 04:57 PM

the team with the most points when the game ends wins the superbowl.

last time kansas city went to the superbowl they just came out with this fancy new type of tv it showed moving pictures in color.
also little know fact. the inventor of the color tv was burned at the stake during half time of that last superbowl appearance because everyone thought he be a witch

DONT GO CALLING ME CRAZY. KANSAS CITY WENT TO A SUPERBOWL I KNOW THEY DID I SAW CAVE DRAWINGS THAT PROVED THEY DID

gyldenlove 12-11-2012 05:58 PM

Actually that quote makes a lot of sense. Since 2005 the most away games a super bowl team could possible play is 21 (7 years times 3 away playoff games per season). On average a team plays 0.83 away games in the playoffs per year (5 away games per 6 teams), that means in 7 seasons the Super bowl champ can be expected to have played in 6 away games and obviously would have won them all. The actual number is twice the expectation value indicating that the super bowl winning team has had a much lower than expected seed in several of the last 7 seasons.

12-11-2012 06:26 PM

'Twas poorly phrased. It is redundant to introduce the outcome of the away playoff game when referring to Super Bowl victors. The Mane is full of logicians, so it makes sense they'd cavil about wasted words and redundancy.

Low seed teams are made with bits of real panther, so you know they're good.

50 percent of the time, Peter King's stats work EVERY time.

"You know, the goal of football is to score more points than the other team. If you do that, you win the game."

"You score a touchdown, you know, that's six points."

- John Madden LOL

This post made my head hurt, Can't we just have some more posts were we just point at kFc fans and laugh?

Or talk about relativity that would be easier than figuring out what Peter King is trying to say.

Only before 1999, after that they started using synthetic panther called polycarbohydratediglyceridepanthera, the kosher version is called polycarbohydratediglyceridehaitalpanthera in the event Joshua is interested.

Even more remarkable: no team that has started the post season at 0-1 has gone on to win the Super Bowl OR the Conference Championship. Those are crazy odds.

There's no documented occurrence of a homicide victim ever talking to police.
