Denver can clinch a division title with a win next week, OR, losses by both San Diego and Oakland.

If Denver clinches the division in NFL week 13, would this be the earliest division clinch in franchise history?

I think 96 was earlier.

1998? 14-2 over 8-8 Oakland...

1996 and 1998 Broncos clinched in week 13 as well.

Who would have ever dreamed that we would have had the luxury of rooting FOR a division rival with 6 games to go because the division was virtually assured???

I think we clinched the division after 11 games in 1998 when we were 10-0 if memory serves me right.

On edit: We clinched after week 13, as the Raiders were 7-3 when we were 10-0....then lost 5 of their last 6.

I think 98 when they were 13-0 that was the earliest.

This is not necessarily a good thing. Knowing you're breezing into the playoffs at week 13 tends to lose focus for the remaining regular season games. Definately don't want to be in a position where we are "backpedaling" into the playoffs by playing crap football since there is not a lot to lose other than seeding.

Getting one of those first round by's should be top priority and I hope Fox is successful at getting the team to continue to play hard, while at the same time having the luxory to rest key players that are on the bubble of playing due to injury if need be.

I didn't forget they were 14-2, but I did forget the fact that no one else in the division finish above .500.

No need to worry, having the division wrapped up doesn't mean not having anything to play for. Playoff positioning and seeding is still at stake.

That's what I already said.

The concern with the Broncos is that they are notriously fast starters in both games and seasons. Then fade away in the 2nd half of both.

With the new regime in town, one can only hope this trend can be reversed.

Ranves and Texans winning by a hangnail in recent weeks. Sure would love for them to get a loss or 2. Stupid ass Chugs and Lions. Both teams showed they are pathetic and found ways to lose yet again.

We need to play for a bye and to make NE come here. I think NE could drop the 49er and or Houston game, we need to keep the pressure on them and Balt.

If we beat Balt, and NE drops a game we are 2nd, I don't worry about going to Houston but we play like **** on the East coast.

I still have nightmares about the 96 season when we clinched the first of December and Shanahan rested a lot of players.....and then we went and played Jacksonville after a 1st round bye. Awful.
