Congrats Steve Atwater
 

Just 12 days after he was listed as a candidate for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2013, former Broncos safety Steve Atwater received another honor.

The Ring of Famer is one of six individuals that will be inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame this April.

Atwater, the 20th player to be inducted into the Broncos Ring of Fame in 2005, was a first-round pick in the 1989 NFL Draft. He was voted to a franchise-record tying seven consecutive Pro Bowls, and his eight total Pro Bowl selections are the second most by a player in Broncos history.

Glad to see Atwater getting his due. I got him to sign my SB XXXII hat at Elway's induction, at the time I told him he would make it some day.

Great to hear, he deserves it.

Eight probowls, 3 SBs, 4 AFCCGs, 2 rings and a reputation as one of the hardest hitting, but clean, players in the game.

In this day and age, he'd be suspended by Goodell every game. Ha!

Atwater would have been fined right and left in today's wuss league. Yes I'd love a stud not a dud S.

He had over 1,000 tackles as a Bronco....

I found that ridiculously hard to believe considering Dawkins played 5 more years than Atwater and only had 900, but I'll damned if Atwater didn't have 1074.

He had 173 in ONE SEASON and he missed a game! That's insane.

Atwater is first ballot HoF material IMHO. That being said, he's a Bronco so it will take 20 years, if he gets in at all...

I was really surprised to see he had so few forced fumbles for how ridiculously hard he hit.

Perhaps opposing players knew they'd better have their head on a swivel and sub-consciously exercise better ball protection?

I like how that one guy said he not only made himself a star on the Okoye hit, he diminished Okoye's intimidation factor.

I choose to believe that the only reason Atwater isn't in the hall of fame is because he only played ten years. But then again, DS49 ain't in either.
