Fake FG............

Someone here said FOX was becoming more likely to take a chance.

Heck of a way to come out ?

Think that play needs a little more practice.........

I think that play needs to be ripped out of the playbook.

On the flipside - no way the Pats would suspect Fox would try it again next week.

Crazy?

Like a ****in' Fox.

Well, get it out of the way and put it on tape for teams to see, no harm no foul.

Prater to Beadles? Really? why not Clady to Bailey, McGahee to Von Miller, or if you really want to have some fun, Colquitt to the lady on the horse. She could stampede the ball into the end zone in triumph and plant the flag.

KevinJames 10-01-2012 02:45 AM

Wasn't supposed to be a pass it kinda just turned into one, it was supposed to be a run they got the look they wanted pre-snap it just wasn't blocked the right way so Prater went with Plan B.

Dammit, Prater didn't get the memo. THERE IS NO PLAN B!

QB Parter

loborugger 10-01-2012 06:09 AM

I assumed this - they wanted to go for it on 4th and 1, however, our starting center had been injured and hauled off the field on the previous play. Therefore, a trick play was preferable to running a 4th and one with a brand new guy snapping the ball.

This. I personally liked the creativity with the play calling yesterday. Big change from the 1st 3 weeks. The fake didnt work so dont run it again. No big deal

The blowout got Fox off the hook.

Kaylore 10-01-2012 07:27 AM

The Broncos in general were stepping on their own ***** all game in that first half. They needed to calm down, both coaches and players, and just play football and they go going ok.

ColoradoDarin 10-01-2012 07:43 AM

Almost as good as Elam's fake FG that got him planted (but we picked up the 1st on that one)

Edit: Reading about the game again, interesting that it was Cutler's first start and Plummer was still the holder.

Smiling Assassin27 10-01-2012 07:46 AM

unless you've got Jim Turner back there, do NOT run a fg fake:

Right?!? I'm thinking I'd rather take my chances with PM 10 times out of 10.

I'm just disappointed that in a blow out such as this, Prater got more pass attempts than Oz.

cmhargrove 10-01-2012 08:50 AM

Ovbiously, that play works much better (historically) when the receiver is a fullback or tight end. Also, you need to prepare for contingencies. We could have easily "come back" for the ball and completed an easy short pass for the first down. Of course, I would choose a back side post route by the tight end if I were to seriously plan a fake FG.

Oh well, I do like the playcalling much better than pervious games, and I like being a little unpredictable. Kudos on a major offensive improvement this week.

Someone needs to loop that play to Guile's theme.

I've always been a Fox supporter, but every once in a while 1-15 Fox shows his ugly head. It's not often but it can scare a Halloween ghoul. This was one of those times.

baja 10-01-2012 09:36 AM

Fox may be the perfect coach for Manning. He's more of a cheerleader that coach. In fact the laid back non egotistical Fox might be one of the top reasons Manning chose Denver.

10-01-2012 10:23 AM

Why not go for the traditional fake FG and have the holder throw it? Slip Ozzy in as holder and Dreesen in on "blocking". Boom
