This summer is just effing awesome for movies.

Man-Goblin 06-07-2012 01:14 PM

Gave me a semi.

I read somewhere Will Smith turned this role down so he could make Men in Black 3. And because he's a p***Y.

Heyneck 06-07-2012 01:17 PM

Tarantino western? F to the yeah!!!

s0phr0syne 06-07-2012 01:20 PM

I'm a big Tarantino fan, but honestly this trailer makes me go, "Meh."

Am I alone?

He probably refused to do another western after getting burned by Wild Wild West.

Boobs McGee 06-07-2012 01:58 PM

Tarantino was offered to do men in black. But chose to make pulp fiction instead.

I'm with you. Don't get the Tarantino deal. Dude is more referential than an episode of The Simpsons. The next western I want to see is Blood Meridian. But Ridley Scott dumped the project and now it looks as if it won't get made.

I'm guessing there will be a lot of WTF moments and a lot of the "N" word being used. Tarentino LOVES him some "N" word.

I'm sure it will be good....after I first saw the trailer for 'Inglourious Basterds' I thought it was going to suck and then I really liked the movie.

Four rooms was funny. In his earlier movies like pulp fiction he intertwined character stories throughout the movie. Overlapping scenes. Seems he's gone away from that type of story lining to a more commercial feel.

Wes Mantooth 06-07-2012 03:07 PM

I'm in.

I think Tarantino is having an awesome resurgence. Yes his movies are entirely homages but they're wonderfully twisted, uniquely entertaining homages. He's not trying to be Stanley Kubrick. I loved Pulp Fiction, thought Kill Bill was fun but not great. When Grindhouse came out I LOVED Death Proof, I LOVED every minute of Inglorious Basterds and I'm sure I'll love this.

broncosteven 06-07-2012 04:02 PM

I was hoping this was a bio-pic on Django Reinhardt

TheElusiveKyleOrton 06-07-2012 04:10 PM

Yep. In.

And Smith did turn this down:
"The shame is that Smith had the perfect role for a comeback in his grasp, written precisely for him by one of our most respected filmmakers. Quentin Tarantino had conceived the title role of Django Unchained specifically for Smith ... but Smith, at this level of global fame, didn't have the fortitude to take the risk of playing a slave battling an evil plantation owner (played by Leonardo DiCaprio; imagine, DiCaprio vs. Smith, in a Tarantino movie!)."

I don't really think this movie is even possible without a CGI Judge and an NC-17 rating.

Tarantino sucks b*lls.

Don't forget "Dusk Till Dawn"

06-07-2012 04:26 PM

Is it OK if I continue to forget it?

Tombstone RJ 06-07-2012 04:38 PM

Tarantino movies get by on the after effects of a few great films by Tarantino like Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs. His other films have been very mediocre IMHO. Jackie Brown was ok but nothing special. I haven't even tried to watch the Kill Bill movies, they look too stupid. Dawn 'Till Dusk, meh. Inglorious Bastards was ok...

As for this new film, unless word gets out that it's just great (like what happened with The Avengers movie) then I'll probably just wait to rent it.
