Odd.

I prefer a management comprised of competent, experienced and qualified persons and ownership with the same qualities. When our management is comprised of individuals who are either utterly inexperienced or people that have a significant share of moral blame for the utter destruction of this franchise (and yet still are employed nonetheless), I'm not going to sit around here and pretend that I'm a fan of them or I'm glad that they're in power. I'm not glad they're in power. I don't like them. I hope they end up doing well for us, but I wish they weren't around.

NESex

Mega Man would also work.

damn Fox might as well have just come out and said Tebow is our guy.

that is one thing that was worrying me if there was a true QB competition. would Fox gauge based on the practices. because in practice Orton looks awesome, while what Tebow brings to the team can't really be seen in practice. i am glad he is apparently watching the film from last season

Rock Chalk 07-08-2011 06:04 AM

Just start the pathetic lefty so we can get this ****ing experiment over and work on getting a real QB.

What I thought was overlooked in that piece by Woody is how Fox said he would let his coordinators call plays, and manage game as a whole.

I felt that McD really lacked that understanding of the game, I remember some interesting decisions at the end of halves last year.. hopefully with Fox clock management, etc will be managed better.

This makes it sound like Fox has pretty much made up his mind:

Quote:

Broncos head coach John Fox extrapolated on recent comments that he was looking for the player with the most in-game prowess, leadership and cool under pressure when selecting his starting quarterback.

"I think what it all really comes down to, as a quarterback, is what you believe in," Fox said. "And, more importantly, who you believe in."

Fox, who was hired earlier this offseason after nine years in Carolina, said Thursday that faith and devotion to Jesus Christ would be a major component in the team's decision at quarterback.

"Obviously you want your guy in there to make the plays and win football games," Fox said. "But he also needs to know who is really calling the shots around here: Jesus."

Fox also added that character, charity work and overall likability would be taken into account when naming the starter.

he said Jesus... so obviously it's Tebow and Quinn (Notre Dame).

however, if he'd said Satan instead, then it would have been Orton.

sorry Kyle, but time for you to move on. i suggest Oakland. the Prince of Darkness is in firm control of that franchise.

I think more telling about the interview was he claimed Denver will have the most sophisitcated running attack in the league. What does that mean to me? There will be lots of options and deception. What else does that mean? TIMMY TIME!

Or does this mean they are going to do more of what they did last year and use Tebow with Orton?

Then they get the best of both worlds.. conservative using Orton the game manager.. and you please the fans using Tebow. For some reason I can't get it out of my head that Elway doesn't see Tebow as a QB but is forced to keep him because of the fans so wants to make Tebow a runner.

I think Elway is stuck in the past a little bit. I am guessing he would have felt the same about Vick, too. Just my view reading the tea leaves.

Nonetheless, I get the feeling that Fox is saying stuff like this because he has management breathing down his neck for the reasons you have listed above. People want Tebow. Tebow sells tickets and jerseys and one of the very few things the old man is keenly aware of is money. In his heart of hearts, I think Fox would actually strongly prefer a safe, conservative choice like Orton, but it's not his call and he has to do what he's told from above.
For once, management is actually doing something that isn't utterly horrible.

I can't agree with this. I've watched the Tebow games all offseason long, so maybe I'm a little biased, but I can't imagine any coach worth his salt looking at these games and not seeing a guy that he can win with. I wouldn't be able to sleep at nights I'd be so giddy if I were a coach whose future was riding on this guy's shoulders. Sure, he needs some work still, but in terms of the material that there is to work with here - the guy seems like a coaching dream come true to me. Again, I'm probably biased by now - but I didn't start out big on Tebow. I was an original doubter, and right now I have zero doubts about it.

Keep in mind though that Tebow is an incredible coaching challenge.. not because he isn't a good QB.. but because he is so unique and there is no blueprint of how to use him best in the NFL.. This is why I think so many people were afraid to draft him. The NFL is a "cookie cutter" league. Just look at Tom Brady.. he was a 6th round pick but because Belichick dominates with him now he is the prototype and Sam Bradford goes number 1.

Bronco Yoda 07-08-2011 09:29 AM

We have the QB position covered people. It's a real Defense we need to concentrate on.
