Hard to judge SD players over the last 2-3 yrs as the team just had no leadership worth a damn. Norv Turner lets players slack off IMO. Happened with Oakland, happened with SD. He will never be a HC in the NFL again. It's not a great sign a player stopped working hard but IMO impossible to not work hard and make it in Denver right now. If Phillips shows up out of shape he might just find himself cut.

Elway tried to sign Doom it wasn't the Broncos fault other then they decided he wasn't going to be paid 12 mil a yr.

Besides now we get to watch Clady stone him opening week while our offense chews the Ravens to pieces. They simply do not have enough to guard Decker, DT, Welker, Manning.

The 3-4 look Broncos would look like this?
L.DE: Wolfe
Nose: Vickerson
R.DE: S. Williams

L.OLB: Von Miller
L.ILB: Irving
R.ILB: Phillips
R.OLB: Woodyard

?

Woodward would be ILB,Phillips OLB . OLBs in a 3-4 are the pass rushers which is why Phillips was signed.

S. Williams would be NT. Vickerson/unrien would be R.DE.

You trust Woodyard with the inside rush defense?

If the Broncos blitz Phillips, the LBs look like last year with Irving taking over the mike LB. If you blitz Von, Irving takes the sam LB roll which he backed up last year and Phillips takes the mike LB roll and he has better size and experience to take on the rush. Well that my thought.

Edit:

Why Sly as Nose? He's not the biggest at 315, Vickerson is bugger at 330+. And you would waste Sly's quick 1st step against double teams instead of maybe getting single match against tackles.

P.S. Of course we are asumming we're playing in a 3-4 even set.

,vickerson weights only 9 lbs heavier the Williams.
You can have vickerson, knight & Williams rotating at NT or DE.
Wood yard is a good player but he doesn't have the pass rushing skills to play OLB in a 3-4. I hate to say it but woodyard at best is a ILB in a 3-4,outside of that he doesn't fit into a 3-4.

The problem is when you blitz Von. It makes Woodyard the mike LB. You trust Woodyard as the mike in your scheme?

Edit: PS OLB is just the title. I'm talking about responsibility that the LBs would have. And I'm trying to keep Woodyard out of the middle of the defense.

I should have said, "they are looking to build more flexibility in the flex position." I fully recognize they lined up in a 3-4 equally or more but maybe they think Phillips can be closer to Millers style rather than Dumervil and his pure leverage, and speed rush.

Again I only heard and read comments that makes me think they a regions to try and create more opportunities with. Von Miller light version in Phillips

Phillips already tweeted that he is excited to be playing for the "good guys". He claims he likes to trash talk to trash talk. Hopefully he is motivated and becomes a Romo like figure for our D.

Broncos run a 4-3 Under in base, and a 4-2 in Nickel.

So, who else will we sign? Urlacher?

Not at the salary he wants.

once i see him crushing that fool Phyllis all is forgiven. :)

Well we don't know yet how all the new pieces will fit. Sounds though as if the packages will be varied and the looks will be plenty. I suspect early in the season and early in games we could really see more Ayers and a more conventional base package. As the game goes on, and our offense assaults the other teams D, I think that's when you could see more packages with Phillips in there. Though, if Ayers steps it up early in games and gets some pressure and sacks, you will see him staying in those rush packages later in games more often. He's in a contract year so I think we could see some extra effort and stats to match.

Its getting Neil Smith after that devestating Jags game all over again.

I will love him when he wipes that stupid expression and the ridiculous contract from Joe Flacco's face when we kick the snot out of the ratbirds on national TV.
