Fox goes "Full Turtle" on 4th and 1

Man, we needed 7 points to end the half, not 3.

This is the playoffs, yet Fox is still going full turtle on 4th and 1.

Thanks for nuttin', Fox!

Why don't we wait and see if it matters before we start to b**** about it?

I've been real critical of their lack of aggressiveness in the past, but I don't have a problem with kicking there. Two score game, and ball back at the start of the 2nd half.

OBF1 01-19-2014 02:31 PM

Wrong. The only problem was calling the damn time out. Better up by 2 possessions heading into the 3rd qtr getting the ball.

B-Large 01-19-2014 02:32 PM

I'd take the points... It was the right call, minus calling the timeout- that was dufus

Smiling Assassin27 01-19-2014 02:32 PM

No way. Kick that. No shame in taking points and going into the half since we get the ball. You don't have to push it every time.

Fair enough. A win is a win, I don't care about the margin.

However, I think it's clear that Fox did *not* grow a pair in the offseason. His mega-conservative ways are just too hard to walk away from.

John Fox is who we thought he is.

razorwire77 01-19-2014 02:33 PM

Absolutely the right call to kick the field goal in that situation.

2 possession lead with the ball to start the 2nd half?

BioCore 01-19-2014 02:33 PM

Didn't think your game had kicked off yet armchair?

Up 10 in a conference championship?

I have a feeling if Denver went for it, did not get it you would have complained he went for it.

M-G 01-19-2014 02:35 PM

I don't care if he kicks it or goes for it. But the time out? Seriously, if you're not thinking ahead and knowing what you're going to do in that situation it is shame on you.

Action 01-19-2014 02:35 PM

You do you realize the difference between 7 and 10 points is 1 and 2 possessions?

By me.

A virtual punch, maybe. I'm just a computer generated stream of words, engineered by some software developer to piss you off.

This is the Matrix.

Stupid post and idea, would not read again.

Seriously, 1 score vs 2 score lead? You have to take the points there. Certainly would rather have seen less time left on the clock, but absolutely the right decision

I kind of thought they should go for it, but getting points to finish the half is huge either way. Here's hoping we can get some decent field position in the 2nd half. Having to go 90 yards every time we get the ball has been brutal.

Totally, no way Seattle whiffs on that.

BroncsCheer 01-19-2014 02:39 PM

I've thought about this for quite a bit and I'm ok with the 3 instead of a potential 7 there

Not full turtle, more of a gator in the mud

The Joker 01-19-2014 02:39 PM

Regardless of the final score, it was completely the right call.

Fox can be too conservative sometimes for my tastes, but you don't just go for every fourth down either. Difference between having a pair and being an idiot.

Yeah, field position has been horrid. Can't get much worse in the 2nd half.

bpc 01-19-2014 02:40 PM

I agree with the call but looking at it from Peyton Manning's perspective, he wants to go win this effin game right then and there. If he gets a TD and kills the clock, going into the 3rd quarter with the ball and a 17-3 lead... dangerous.

Hope Fox made the right call.

mellow mood 01-19-2014 02:41 PM

Agreed
Take the points in that spot
Great call

Armchair Bronco 01-19-2014 02:55 PM

OK. I'll admit that I was too harsh on Fox. I'm glad we got those 3 points now that DT has scored.

20-3 is a great score.

Go Broncos!

OBF1 01-19-2014 03:53 PM

And now rushing only 3 players.. How is that working out for us??? Stupid shiat play calling

barryr 01-19-2014 04:08 PM

Kicking the field goal was the right call, but not the timeout. It gave the Pats time to possibly get those points back before the half.
