Cody Wallace: League should look at Broncos 'bounty'

Quote:

A hit by Steelers center Cody Wallace ended the season of Broncos safety David Bruton when the teams met in the regular season last month.

Broncos safety Darian Stewart told reporters this week that Wallace is “going to be sore” after Sunday’s AFC divisional playoff game between the teams, then was a little less vague about his plans to go low on Wallace.

“I’m cutting him,” Stewart said.

That got the attention of Steelers guard Ramon Foster, who asked that the league office keep an eye on Stewart.

“You put that kind of stuff out there, that just gives you a bigger bullseye,” Foster said, per the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “Hopefully the refs will be looking at that. The league needs to look at that because that’s making a bounty. So, you want to talk about safety? Address that. Take a stand on that. They made a bounty on a guy who hadn’t done anything to him.”

Stewart said he will keep it “between the lines, between the whistles” but told reporters that Wallace “better not come at me.”

the Steelers have this shtick where they get under peoples' skin with cheap stuff and then act completely surprised and appalled when the opposition returns in kind.

Steelers have always toed the line with their physical type of play, and they usually get away with it due to their reputation. Hopefully they are looking at their play just as much as they are with the Broncos. I like Broncos chances if they are calling it equal.

Now I remember why I hate the Steelers so much. Kinda forgot with their half decade of irrelevance.

Gort 01-13-2016 07:03 PM

Steelers have become a dirty team under Tomlin.

any opposing player who makes comments to the media about "payback" is an idiot. shut up and do it on the field. don't threaten it beforehand in the media. Stewart should shut up.

DomCasual 01-13-2016 07:14 PM

It's funny how on just about every national article about this game, at least some third-party fans will write "Go Broncos" in the comments. Next to the Patriots and Seahawks, I don't think there is a team that is more universally hated.

Garcia Bronco 01-13-2016 07:14 PM

Stewart said he would in essense cut block him in the game if given the opportunity between the whistles. No ****.

Raiders used to be, but they've been so bad for so long... most people just laugh at them now.

Or they think we are the easier win to face.

Nothing new. I think it was Paul Howard who took a punch to his sack in the 1977 divisional game enroute to the Broncos 1st SB.

Steelers have been taking cheap shots foreverS!

IndelibleScribe 01-13-2016 09:44 PM

I hate to say this and I hate to think it. But I hope we lay his ass out.

Bronc0guy 01-13-2016 09:48 PM

Grabbing guys balls is some bush league BS. Come on now. If this guy gets wiped out I don't think you'll see many people shedding any tears over it.

muninoel 01-13-2016 09:56 PM

If an illegal, dirty hit ends the season of a player, the player that did the dirty play should have to sit out the rest of the season as well. That's what I would do to help put an end to this lowdown crap.

Action 01-13-2016 10:14 PM

Honestly think we should have kept it in house. With our OL and QB durability issues - we are quite literally throwing stones from a glass house.

extralife 01-13-2016 10:56 PM

the steelers do this **** all the time. they'll get the calls because they'll go up to the refs before the game and be like "hey, keep an eye on these guys, they said they're coming after us." every team falls for it because players are too set on appearing tough. just shut the **** up and win the game.

gyldenlove 01-14-2016 12:01 AM

The Steelers remind me of the Bruins, cheapest team in the league who are also the first to cry about other teams.

That's within the lines man. It was opportunistic. It's not like they put a ball grabbing bounty out.

TD4HOF 01-14-2016 03:43 AM

Underrated story line for Sunday: who is going to be more physical and fearless? Denver CANNOT lose this part. Gotta be the Bengals pre-meltdown.

Beantown Bronco 01-14-2016 03:43 AM

Someone really needs to school these guys on the definition of bounty. Clearly, they have zero clue what it means.

Honestly, i'm not buying Stewart being able to lay out a 300b NFL lineman. Best chance is by one of the linebackers during an interception runback. Linebackers are great at being able to blind side linemen on those plays.

bowtown 01-14-2016 05:39 AM

If Manning is healthy, he's probably going to rip the guy's testicles right off.
