OK Broncos fans, what players do you think we could replace and feel completely certain that the quality of play could only get better?

Who on this team do you see as such a liability that any single player on our roster or off the waiver wire would be an improvement upon him?

My first nominee: Kevin Vickerson. Dude is damn near 30. He's sucked everywhere else. He still sucks here. Commits dumb penalties, never shows up in the running game. I'm pretty sure any street FA who has ever made it to an NFL camp would give us similar production.

I second that. The rookie Wisniewski, in his first NFL game, was blowing him off the football last night.

whoever it was or wasn't, that guy should be nominated. i'm happy to see Heyward-Bey do well, just not against us.

also, somebody on the FG block team should have committed a penalty before Janikowski ever got a chance to try from 63 yards. our nose tackle should have put their center on his ass and stopped the play before the ball was ever snapped.

All but the coaching staff. They've been here one game, don't make a gross over reaction.

Joe Mays is our worst starter by a mile, he only has value on runs right down the middle, any draw play, any off-tackle run, any pitch play he is too slow to be relevant, he doesn't sniff out screens at all and he couldn't cover a 5 year old.

Mays is functional as SILB in a 3-4 look where his primary job is to crash into blockers at the point of attack and free up with WILB to make the play. He's a blue collar Jeremiah Trotter.

At the center of a 4-3 where he need to read plays, cover, and perform all the other responsibilities of arguably the toughest spot on a 4-3 D he is woefully inadequate.

I fully agree with this.

And what a stellar showing it's been.

From the trading block to starter to the QB "competition" to the "competitive advantage" of 2 #2 QBs to the "most sophisticated running game in the league" to this performance.

They BELONG on this list until they PROVE otherwise.

Agree with most of this list.

Walton was rough but somehow wasn't as bad as Beadles and Franklin, he's young and might develop. I still don't see how we constantly insist on no quality veterans to let these guys develop behind, but I can't totally throw Walton under the bus just yet.

The coaching staff definitely. Not only did the team look like **** last night, but we have multiple "depth" guys that they have brought in and yet were unwilling to play. Nate Irving in the place of Mays for example. Even when healthy they've kept Irving buried on the depth chart behind both Mays and Hagan. If the guys you're starting suck at least coach the new guys up to a tolerable level. We apparently can't even do that.

Oakland passed down the field so little that it didn't matter.

Regarding talent acquisition, or lack thereof, does John Fox not know what he's doing or are his hands tied due to financial considerations? What do people think? Should we start worrying how much of the decline of the Carolina Panthers, after some early success, was his fault? Too early? No way to tell?

you cannot build through FA. The available pool is guys who either have been deemed expendable or guys who will only leave their teams as UFA to be overpaid. There are always exceptions, like Neil Smith whom the chorfs chose to cut loose to keep d.thomas. But even Smith only had a couple of seasons in his tank. This is a three draft rebuild. There are posters here who say McD left more in the cubbard than he inherited, but they had personal cred invested in the guy, and they are very wrong. This team scuks. Elway said day one that there there are only two vets who could make a superbowl defense, and Orton is a lot worse than Frown Cannon, and lets not get into other "questional" McD decisions.

way...Way...WAY too early.

Thanks to the last 3-4 years this roster is a barren wasteland. Hopefully, EFX are the right people for the job 'cause they are the ones that will be pulling the trigger for the next few seasons*.

Wow, of all the players to pick on? Didn't even seem like he played that much tbh. I like him out there though, he reminds me of Courtney Brown in that he's huge but not sloppy and fat.

Franklin; or move him to guard where he may actually excel.
Every linemen, offense and defense, with the exception of Clady on running plays.
Every defensive linemen except Dumervil on passing downs.
Joe Mays, period.

Orton.
Our running-backs.

How about introducing a position? That is, the fullback position. Remember that role? Or is Denver content with running out of 3-WR sets all day, or on occasion with two receiving TE's shoring up the blocking? Jesus ****ing Christ. Hopefully watching Reece blow up the initial defender every run clued the staff in on this concept.
