The blowout loss will either motivate the Chiefs or deflate them. I know this sounds crazy but I felt it was near a must win for KC, because of who they played next and because they are a young team--a lot of their guys could get real up or down based on how they start.

A lot of people, including me, will point out the Chiefs had a weak schedule last year and didn't really beat anyone. But they started the year 2-0, and you could easily make the argument they could have started 0-2. Their offense did basically next to nothing in those two games, but their defense carried them and that carried on throughout much of the season.

I think you can dive at a player's knees when he has a chance to protect himself, but you can't sneak up behind a guy & blow out his knees when he's defenseless. Am I wrong about that? Seems to me if it were legal, players would just come up behind key opponents & drive their helmets into the knees to send them on IR. Just sneak up behind a guy & CRUNCH!

Yeah, the thing is, it's a little bit of a gray area. Was he blocking from behind, or was it from the side? None of the angles I've seen have been very conclusive. I'm guessing that the league will determine that it was from the side enough to not warrent any disciplinary action. We'll see though.

Even if they determine that it was maybe sorta kinda from the side, its still illegal. A cut block from the side is only legal near the line of scrimmage between the tackles:

"A cut block occurs below the knees and is legal if it happens in the front or -- near the line of scrimmage between the tackles -- from the side."

DO NOT APPROACH BUFFALO.

As someone who has been to Buffalo I can only agree with this advice, under no circumstances should you go to Buffalo, it is a horrid place.

Wow, I had literally never heard that before. I guess I'll have to be careful of where my cut blocks come from in the future.

Article: Chiefs Epic Failure Could Linger

There are some good points\great quotes in this article!

“I’m taking 100 percent responsibility for our team not being ready to go,” head coach Todd Haley said. “OK? You can point the finger right at Todd Haley. OK? I’m taking 100 percent responsibility.”
Matt Cassel averaged about 3 yards per pass.
getting mollywhopped in the opener at home by a team that went 4-12 last year and is coached by a guy the Chiefs fired two years ago … well, that just makes it worse.
mollywhopped??? What the heck does that mean??? ;)
The stands emptied out at halftime like it was a Kansas game.
On paper, this figured to be the Chiefs’ easiest game of the year: a season opener at home against a team that was awful against the run last year
an embarrassing performance at home against a suspect opponent coached by a former Chiefs employee
Don't forget to read the Kansas faithful comments below the article!

I hate the chiefs after raising my gold level seats to some absurd price. Now look at that section. It is always empty.

I resent the Kansas comment. How can it empty out when its never full? Douches!

That Berry hit looked pretty illegal to me.

Luis Castillo got injured on a false start play but the refs were too slow to stop the play.

Injuries suck, but that's football. But they really suck when they shouldn't have happened.
