It's not a Broncos game thread but it's opening week so real football.

GB looking real good so far. The only question is how many times can Rodgers throw the ball before his arm comes off?

Inkana7

Masterful drive.

That One Guy
09-08-2011, 05:51 PM
75 yds (1 yd rushing) for Rodgers and 9 for Grant.

But when you can make it look that good, who cares about balance?

That blitz that took down Rodgers was pretty crazy too. I love watching Ds that'll turn it loose like that.

Nice drive to start the game for GB. If the can play like that on O all season, they could be hard to beat!

That One Guy
09-08-2011, 05:53 PM
Haha.. he dropped it. Not a good way to start the season.

That One Guy
09-08-2011, 05:55 PM
The interesting part of the imbalance is that Grant and the OL have looked good when rushing. They just don't feel like doing it, apparently.

maher_tyler
09-08-2011, 05:55 PM
Guess all those practices Brees organized are paying off Ha!

That One Guy
09-08-2011, 05:56 PM
Hmm... Orton and a 6th for Rodgers?

He moves so well.

Yeah gb looks good. I prefer a d that front 4 forces action without blitzing. No will give up big play they keep firing away at Rodgers.

WolfpackGuy
09-08-2011, 06:01 PM
All too easy.

It's nice to have a QB who can make plays in and out of the pocket.

Absolutely true in the football sense. In the pure excitement sense though, a risk taking team is fun to watch.

The talking heads are already talking about how NO shifted on the 2nd drive from man to zone because they were getting beat too badly. They're not really getting pressure aside from that blitz, Rodgers is carving them up and forcing them into a zone they don't prefer... this could be a long night for NO.

That One Guy
09-08-2011, 06:04 PM
Hmm... has anyone mentioned how much this new kickoff rule sucks?

I think Sproles and I are agreed on it.

WolfpackGuy
09-08-2011, 06:06 PM
Sproles out of the backfield should be deadly.

That One Guy
09-08-2011, 06:06 PM
Wow. Did they put a DE on Sproles now? He was wide open.

WolfpackGuy
09-08-2011, 06:08 PM
Wow, nice catch by Meacham.

That One Guy

"Tex" Cobb with a nice catch and run.

This is a clinic.

Brees is clutch.

That One Guy
09-08-2011, 06:28 PM
Saints are moving the ball at will as well.

The difference is the Packers are moving it methodically whereas the Saints are getting the big play. Rodgers is 14/15 for 188 while Brees has a 39, 31, 16, and 12 yarder.

That One Guy
09-08-2011, 06:29 PM

I'd prefer beating up very much badly.

Man, Ingram is tough.

I wanted the Broncos to make a play for him.

maher_tyler
09-08-2011, 06:34 PM

09-08-2011, 06:36 PM
Wow... I hate the kickoff rule.

WolfpackGuy
09-08-2011, 06:37 PM
Jesus, 4 touchbacks.

They better have the nets up in Denver this season on kickoffs.

That One Guy

Don't kick it to Sproles. Trust me.

Your pal,

Doc B

epicSocialism4tw
09-08-2011, 06:41 PM

The punter actually had a good angle on him, but Sproles hit the extra gear and just toasted the guy.

epicSocialism4tw
09-08-2011, 06:42 PM
This is a pretty decent start to the NFL season I'd say...

38 points and the first half isn't even over yet. Big plays, two competitive teams...good stuff.

Goobzilla
09-08-2011, 06:42 PM
F-ing Sproles man!

KCStud
09-08-2011, 06:42 PM
And that's what SD will miss this season. Their ST's will still suck balls this year.

That One Guy
09-08-2011, 06:43 PM
What on earth are you blabbering about?

LOL

I had to read that a few times to get the point and then try to figure out why it was so difficult to understand. Then, luckily, Sproles scored so I was distracted.

Dr. Broncenstein
09-08-2011, 06:44 PM
What it the world was SD thinking by letting him walk?

That One Guy
09-08-2011, 06:45 PM
Rodgers isn't hitting right now. When he has, his players were getting hit or playing nervous and dropping the ball.

Miss I.
09-08-2011, 06:46 PM
Dear San Diego,
Thanks for sending yet another great player to our team.
Thanks,
The Saints
PS. The AFC West also thanks you.

That One Guy
09-08-2011, 06:46 PM
What it the world was SD thinking by letting him walk?

He backed 'em into a corner on the contract. I think I actually heard he wanted a bigger role but if that were the case, why go to NO where he was assured to just assume the Bush role?

I can't imagine they just didn't think they could find a use for him anymore.

09-08-2011, 06:50 PM
That Jennings guy isn't half bad...

Well their choices were Culpepper with a busted knee for a 2nd or Brees with a busted shoulder for free. They elected to opt for the busted knee and, ironically, Brees is one of the tops in the NFL despite having destroyed his shoulder and the knee was ultimately Culpepper's undoing.

If he kicks it like that, the guy is a fool to catch it rather than let it bounce out.

Only question, I guess, would be the risk of the ball bouncing back in and being live.

I'm not so sure yet. If the Pack act like it is, they could definitely lose it. They need points or some intense clock burning.

It was pretty close to the sideline.

I wonder if teams will start rotating in multiple returner type players to combat the pooch.

Hope these basketball scoring games are just a fluke tonight and not an indication of the "New NFL".

If both of these teams are giving up what they're giving up to each other tonight then our Broncos D is in for a seriously long and frustrating year.

He can bump into him as long as he's making a play on the ball. He can't tackle the receiver..he can't grab him. it should have never come down to the 4th and 1 play.

Nonsense. You can't "make a play on a ball" by going through the receiver. He clearly slammed into the back of Sproles pushing his head, shoulders and arms downward. Pass Interference.

I don't see how any team can think they could compete for a championship these days without a QB of this caliber. Unbelievable. The Jets and Ravens have good teams but there's no way in hell they're winning a title right now with Rodgers, Brees, Brady and Ben around, IMO.

He's better than Sanchez and Flacco, no doubt, but put Roethlisberger on any other team and the guy doesn't have those rings IMO.

Your a ****ing idiot. Do you even consider their style vs TimBoys' style. Night and frigging day. It MAY have something to do with the supporting staff.

In addition, had Orton been sacked/assaulted like Brees was last night, al we would have heard from the Teboners is that Orton went fetal again. So, dillwad, did Brees go fetal?

on a side note, have you figured out how to cheat in the pick em league this year?

Sproles would have caught the TD if Hawk didn't pass interference. Also, glad he's no in SD anymore. Krutz is a midget at center. No wonder he was released by the Bears and blown up on that last play. Woodson should've been thrown out. Saints had plenty of opportunities. Will say an entertaining 1st game of the season.

Smiling Assassin27
09-09-2011, 07:37 AM
The most unimaginative play call we'll see all year long. Raji and Pickett--about 1 ton of agile, d-linemen, who have blown up short yardage plays all night--on the field and undersized Kreutz anchoring the line, and you slam it up in there?

The Pack can be thrown on and exhibit A was the previous 59 minutes and 56 seconds. They will look back at this one and cringe, especially Payton who simply blew it.

WolfpackGuy

Going into the 2 minute warning with only one timeout hurt the Saints.

I thought they should've tried to go to the end zone at least one more time before the pass interference play instead of dropping it off short.

That was a bad play call at the end.

You MIGHT get away with something like that on a quick hitter.

I was wondering as well. They had ~30 seconds or so and started going over the middle for everything. If they keep working the sidelines, they have more time and get a couple shots into the EZ.

Too much time ran off for a minimal gain.

I see QB's like this and wonder where in the Eff we went wrong. It's like two leagues our there, the elite, Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Manning (healthy), and there's the rest. We have the likes of Orton, who won the starting spot (speaks volumes of the rest of our qb's), who when in the red zone pisses down his leg. Did you see these guys shine last night in the red zone? Did you see the way Brees lead a drive in the waning minutes of the game to give them a chance to compete? We wont see the likes of that for years to come.
