is he returning punts for good now or what?

he started and had four returns in game 3.

if so i think it's great. royal is solid but squid's on another level, or could be at least.

Plus I think we need Royal to have a good yr at wideout for Broncos offense to be good. I like what I see from Decker as well. the 3 wr set with Decker and Lloyd outside and Royal in the slot I think could work well. Truthfully though I have not watched close enough to see where Decker made his big catches from? was he lined up inside or wide?

They seem to mostly line him up inside, in the slot.

I would have guessed that Royal would go inside in the 3 wr sets but Decker is bigger and can probably last longer in there then Royal could.

I suspect its partly his size but also his comfort. Royal just doesn't do well in the slot. He might have the game for it, but not the instinct. Decker plays better there and his size inside will help in the run game blocking down field.

I like the fact that Royal isn't back there, but I have been disappointed with the Punt Returns. I would look at the waiver wire to see if we can get a guy that can return punts.

Im glad Royal isnt returning punts now. As far as Squid, I say we give him a couple more opportunities before we bail on him doing returns.

I agree with all of this.

Squid looked like he has good vision returning the ball and I would definately prefer NOT to see Royal usd in that capacity.

Syd should have been returning punts since he was a Bronco. This was a no brainer.

I really liked what I saw from Squid returning punts last year, and I think he should get an extended tryout this year; especially since, like many in this thread have already said, it lets us keep Royal out of the return game.

Andersen hasn't impressed me all that much as a returner thus far (though in an admittedly small sample size). I'd like to see Vaughn given more of a shot back there after what he showed last year, considering that he's not going to see much use on kickoff returns.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Royal could use a better QB (not on the roster)

I don't know how much returning punts takes away from a receiver's focus. But, I would really like see Royal with being a WR as his sole focus, and maybe he can really come into his own this year.

I'd agree to that. Having a QB that understands how to use him could benefit (knowing how to use your weapons).

We should wait and see if the Pats cut Brady....he could be a decent pickup on the waiver wire.

Im going to go out on a limb and say Royal is probably an average receiver. Really, he has had one good game and that was against DeAngelo Fall.

He has dropped more passes than he should have and is having trouble getting open consistently.

That's not to say Orton couldn't do a better job finding him, but even if we had a much better QB I doubt you'd see Royal's numbers go up. More of a role player than a play maker in the receiving game. Love Eddie, dont get me wrong, just think he is a bit over-rated by the local fan base.

Squid seems more elusive (better suited to punts) while Royal is obviously faster.

i seem to remember reading awhile back that the team liked Eddie on the outside working around the numbers and near the sidelines. I think the main way they lineup will be Lloyd and Royal on the outside with Decker inside.

he dropped one pass all last year:

(all the way to the bottom)

he may not be the steve smith of 5 years ago, but he's still very solid. not everyone can be a game breaker.

I've been wondering who the PR guy will be, and I'm ok with Squid. He gets positive yards and could maybe break a long one here and there.

I see it too Kaylore. Decker won't mind getting hit in the middle. Reminds me of another wide receiver we had during our Super Bowl days. His name is on the tip of my tongue but can't think of it. I am sure you know who I am talking about.

You really think you can find a good punt returner on the waver wire?
