It sounds like we can cross off Ryan Harris as an option for Philadelphia’s shaky right tackle position.

Howard Eskin of 610 WIP and NBC-10 reports Harris has a herniated disc in his back. The free agent pickup will have back surgery next week, according to CSNPhilly.com.

Once a fast-rising player on the Broncos, Harris has struggled to stay healthy the last few years. Early this month, he was viewed as the heavy favorite to start in Week One. Winston Justice isn’t healthy either, leaving King Dunlap at right tackle in the preseason.

Hey, I guess it was a good thing after all that we didn't re-sign him.

Feel bad for the guy, and I hope he can still make something out of his career.

Knock on him coming out of college was his oft-injured back....

Common misconception. He had one back injury, his senior year in college. It wasn't fixed until the surgery he had during his rookie season here. Not denying he's made of glass, but there's always been a lot of false information on Ryan Harris floating around and it irks me because I was a fan of his.

Sucks for him, I hope he gets better.

Having said that it's nice to see that the Bronco's made the right decision for a change.

glad we moved on from that tease

look good in the ZBS when healthy, but could not stay healthy

he would be a good backup for a zone team though

“Sometimes the best things that happen to you in life are the things that don’t happen,” one high-ranking Denver official said today.

Good thing Harris' off the field business is home healthcare as he will have a patient for life

Sources: Eagles' Harris to have back surgery

Eagles offensive lineman Ryan Harris, who at one point earlier this month was the Eagles’ projected starting right tackle, will undergo back surgery, likely within the next week, two league sources told CSN’s Derrick Gunn Friday.

Seems like the questionable back had all the reason to be questioned.

My UPS driver is a big Eagles fan and was pissed about this. Says we stole Bunkley and gave them our trash!

The eagles have a superhero (Winston Justice) and a cartoon character (King Dunlap) at the position.

After watching last nights game, If philly can protect Vick for half the season i would be surprised. He will be injured for sure and if he plays more than 10 games this year i will be surprised.

Too bad for Harris, but I am so glad we didn't try to hang on to him. He was way too fragile. I wouldn't be surprised to see him out of the league by next year.

Took a gamble on the broken down bum and it didn't work. It was time to cut the losses and move on. Don't tie your ride to a sinking ship and cut the losses. He was good when he played which wasn't very often.

Speaking of the Eagles, here's a guy I hope the Broncos takea look at...

We've probably seen the last of Joselio Hanson in an Eagles uniform . . .

Andy Reid said Jose, a steady nickel corner here since 2006, didn't play much against the Browns because, "I know what Joselio can do," and it was more important to evaluate Brandon Hughes and Curtis Marsh.

But with the Asante Samuel trade speculation slowing down, there just doesn't seem to be any way the Birds will keep Hanson, at about $2 million this season, to be a fourth cornerback. Especially since they don't want to cut Marsh or even Hughes. Reuben Frank, of CSNPhilly.com, reported yesterday that the team has trade offers for Hanson, who probably won't net much more than a conditional pick.

Bummer, he seamed like a good kid, but it isn't like this is a suprise. Good move by the front office bringing Franklin in and not overpaying for an often injured player.
