Orton Hurls Pass, Cracks Windshield Of Teammate's Porsche

DENVER -- For anyone doubting Kyle Orton's arm strength, the Broncos quarterback hurled a pass in practice that cracked the windshield of running back Willis McGahee's Porsche on Thursday.
OK, it was an incomplete pass in the end zone that skipped off the ground before dinging the Porsche in the player's parking, according to Denver Post sportswriter Lindsay H. Jones.

I was relieved when I found out it wasn't Tebow.

And that is wasn't B. Lloyd's Porsche.

I watched the Lions game a few days ago and watching Stafford throw, and then watching Orton throw, there's quite a big difference. I don't know why Orton has never hit the weights that hard knowing he doesn't have a naturally strong arm.

Oh man.

Orton v. Tebow.
Cutler v. Elway.
Elway v. Gravity.

He must have been getting sacked and threw the ball away, "because he couldn't find a receiver."

How horribly inaccurate do you have to be to hit a car in a parking lot. I mean it's not like it was parked in the endzone?

I really don't want Orton starting BUT, why is it a bad thing for the QB to throw the ball away if he is being sacked?

After watching game tape on Orton throwing I have come to the conclusion that the window was already cracked and Mcgahee is just trying to pull insurance fraud.

Given that you are a poodle in your avatar, it settled it with me that you would always go with the drama. If you've ever seen that interview where that statement was made, you would know that just because he used those words, he was sarcastically responding to a persistently stupid interviewer. Give it up. People like you and your poodle make the media too powerful.

You can be credibly accurate, throw the ball away safely and crumble when you hear the pitter patter if little elven feet, during sleep...even if there's an open receiver in the endzone, you won't get a touchdown unless there is a leprechaun with a 4 leaf clover standing at your feet.

funny. i thought the knock on Tebow was accuracy and the whole reason Orton is 1st string is because he's so accurate in training camp when nobody is allowed to touch him. if he's randomly hitting cars out in the parking lot with his passes, shouldn't we be getting a story soon from Mike Silver explaining how Orton has "regressed" and might be the 4th best QB on the roster?

...hypocrisy, they name is "Orton fanboys"

Actually, according to this article, they kind of are.

the money quote for those to lazy to follow links:

For what its worth, only about 10 yards from back of end zone to the players' parking lot. No fence. Not some crazy errant pass here.

Yeah if they are practicing on the field closest to the building it is not that far from the endzone to the cars.

I don't care. If I tee one up on the course on the 6th that runs adjacent to the parking lot and I slice one into the lot it is still considered a sh!!y drive or a shank. Hitting the Green shouldn't be that tough for a marksman like Orton and his noodle cannon.

Funny, because if this was Tebow throwing that ball, it would probably be you posting the clarification about the distance between the field and the players' parking lot.

Hilarious!

This place is awesome.

Welp, that didn't happen. What did happen is you limpwristed the ball into the parking lot and now Willis has to have Safelight come out and fix his auto glass. You're a dick Kyle. Stop hatin' on Willis.

The knock on Orton coming out of Purdue was that he threw too HARD.
That he didn't have a good touch pass.

Somewhere along the way (likely due to his time with the Bears) he got a completely false reputation as being a Griese/Pennington type guy but it's just not the case.
He may not have a cannon but he's above average at the least.

A few actual 2011 Preseason facts/stats might help this out a bit?

Denver QB's after 2 preseason games:

1. Tebow 7 of 9, 77.8% for 101 yds, 11.2 yds/att, Long 43 yds, Passer Rating 113.4
>> Rushing 3 for 22 yds, 7.3 ypc.
(next closest Bronco are Moreno - 5.3 ypc, & Johnson 4.9 ypc)

2. Orton 12 of 19, 63.2% for 172 yds, 9.1 yds/att, Long 29 yds, Passer Rating 110.0

3. Quinn 18 of 30, 60.0% for 250 yds, 8.3 yds/att, Long 26 yds, Passer Rating 95.1

===============

2011 Preseason Stats so far:

#1/25 Pick Tebow 7 of 9, 77.8% for 101 yds, 11.2 yds/att, Long 43 yds, Passer Rating 113.4 + 7.3 ypc

#1/1 Pick Bradford 24 of 43, 55.3% for 278 yds, 6.4 yds/att, Passer Rating 86.8

Dog-man Vick 19 of 36, 52.8% for 219 yds, 6.0 yds/att, Long ?? Passer Rating 77.7 + 4.5 ypc

Jimmy da Pickle 17 of 29, 58.3% for 173 yds, 5.9 yds/att, Passer Rating 77.3 + 3.3 ypc
Da Pickle's 2010 PER = 58.4, 9 Ints to 3 TD's -- Rushing 2.5 ypc
* Finally Benched by the QB Genius Fox :stirstir:

#1/1 Pick Scam Newton 21 of 52, 40.4% for 275 yds, 5.2 yds/att, Passer Rating 58.4 + 8.4 ypc

But Tebow is 'weak-armed' & the Inaccurate Passer?

Alpha,

It's most certainly NOT always "da stats" that matter.
In fact they can be EXTREMELY deceiving. That's why most everyone watching those practices and games (including Tebow advocates) has acknowledged that he's been badly outplayed throughout camp and preseason.
