If Rahim's hit was worth $20,000, how much would Randy Gradishar and Tom Jackson be fined today for these hits?

I can't believe they give a first time offender that kind of fine.

I wish we can go back to those days! This league is slowly becoming touch football!

The first two look pretty clean...the one on the Chargers guy and the last one would be $25k+

I thought Adkins was dead after TJ blew him up. I love football!

Tim,

That Jackson hit on Joiner was in the season finale for all the marbles against the Chargers. The winner of the game wins the AFC West title.

And we got jobbed on that call. Steve Foley is clearly in possession of the ball and then it is funbled out of bounds. It was either tied or 10-7 Chargers at the time and we would have had the ball in GREAT field position. Inexplicably, they gave the ball to San Diego. You can hear Dandy Don start to mutter, "now why would they........ at the end of your clip.

He was saying the same thing every Broncos fan in the nation was saying.

WHY THE **** ARE THEY GIVING THE BALL TO THE CHARGERS!!!!

The last one by TJ was particularly devastating ...

I think Adkins asked what we're asking now, Who's Adkins?

Man it's nice to see guys hitting with their shoulders (for the most part, that TJ hit was NUTS). I still maintain that Rahim led with his shoulder too though.

Just shows you how much the this league has changed. I can't see many quarterbacks getting up from that last hit TJ put on that guy. That was brutal.

Under the current rules, the only play that could be penalized is the 2nd play.

Play 1: Ball Carrier
Play 2: Defenseless receiver
Play 3: Ball Carrier
Play 4: Ball Carrier

And on the 3rd play, that should have been Denver's ball as Foley had possession of the ball and was down by contact.

Wow. The TJ hit was brutal... no way it would fly today. Loved seeing this though! Thanks for posting this. I hope Moore/Miller can unleash that type of hatred on opposing players.

You gotta see this dennis smith sack of dan fouts, goes full superman over rb blocking, and nails fouts like a train with the flying leap over back. Right up there all time.

I think that the third play would have been a penalty today as well. A ball carrier who is engaged by a tackler is considered defenseless under the new rules I believe.

Yes, but only if engaged by a tackler and the forward progress is stopped. In play 3, it doesn't look like to me that the forward progress is stopped. The tackler engages and is hit by TJ at the same time.

If it's debatable, today's NFL will fine it.

We need more people posting clips of former Broncos hits - I know there are members out there just sitting on good video.

My son still has never seen a Dennis Smith hit :(

First off there is no helmet to helmet unless its the QB, or player defenseless right? But I agree the old timers launched all the time.

I used to make my own bronco highlight tapes in the late 70's/early 80's where these clips are from. I don't have complete games, just highlights. I posted some awhile back and will post more when I get around to getting them on youtube.

These days, they would've thrown Jackson out of the league for that awesome hit around 1:35.

Thanks - I forgot he has seen the 2 common Bronco hits that are on the web - that one and the Atwater/Okoye hit

Just sucks that both of these guys were known for devastating hits but the only 2 available are those 2.

I think the most egregious Bronco hit of all time is Dave Costa spearing Joe Namath. I can't find a photo of it. Maybe B Love has it in his collection. It was helmet to sternum. Ouch.

Hilarious! Rep. That was good, and as soon as anyone finds out who he is or if he was still alive an hour after that hit post it here.

I added that his pro career was terminated by a hit by Tom Jackson.
