“Let’s be very clear about this,” Schefter said. “The Denver Broncos are keeping Tim Tebow. They wrote him a check last week for $6.7 million. They’ve paid off his base salaries in his contract as it was written in there. His base salary for this coming season, $1.6 million: it’s fully guaranteed, the contract. The Denver Broncos are into Tim Tebow this year for $8.3 million. They’re not going to be paying him that money, then trading him elsewhere when he has minimal value around the league right now. They’re not going to be paying him that money and releasing him.

“People can bash Tim Tebow all they want. Really, let’s see what happens over the course of a season before we start hammering the guy.”

"If John Fox is planning on using Tebow around the goal line area, would he debut that in the preseason and give opponents time to study that, or is he going to surprise the Oakland Raiders on the Monday Night season opener?" another Tebow thread, but unlike all of these other opinions, I respect Schefter.

This is a big part of the reason why I don't buy the notion that the brass is writing him out of their future plans. If that were the case, why pay him the $6.7 million instead of just releasing him or trading him for whatever they can get? It makes no sense. I think people are reading too mcuh into the 2nd preseason game. Is there really that much developmental benefit for Tebow to play in the preseason, when schemes are extremely vanilla? In Tebow's case, I think it may do more harm than good because folks are so hyper-critical of him even when he seemingly turns in a productive performance (6-7 in the preseason opener, yet headlines read he was "shaky"). I think the brass may just be trying to protect him from the hypercritical environment, particularly since a preseason game likely isn't going to do a whole lot to help with development. The real development occurs during the day-to-day grind of practice, and during meaningful games that count.

"If John Fox is planning on using Tebow around the goal line area, would he debut that in the preseason and give opponents time to study that, or is he going to surprise the Oakland Raiders on the Monday Night season opener?"

Exactly. As Khan has reported, the team has been practicing special packages to run with Tebow. I'll be pretty surprised if those aren't utilized during the reg. season. Hopefully, those packages will be more creative than the fullback dive plays McD ran pretty much exclusively when he would put Tebow in.

Don't be ridiculous, I read on the Mane that Tebow hasn't proven anything at the nfl level yet.

Yep it's all Fox's fault. LOL

He's only one part of EFX. And yes dropping Tebow to third on the depth chart after a solid first preseason game, and then only letting him throw twice has only added more fuel to the insanity of this situation. The entire Broncos organization looks so ****ing retarded right now. A team needs to support their young 1st round QB or move him. The way they are riding the fence on the matter isn't good for anyone.

As long as Tebow is a Bronco there will be a flood of "Bronco" fans wearing Florida Gator underwear under their Tebow jersey. They don't give a damn about the Broncos, they care about Timmy and that's it. They'll continue to make everything about him and I don't think there is anything we can do about it.

Yeah he should have just handed the job to Tebow without practice or anything just to please the fans and media. I hope Tebow is more man about whats going on then our fans. We don't need to move him period. He is under contract and we paid him. Denver doesn't have any QB besides Tebow under contract next season. My f'ing god why does it have to be start him or trade him!!!!! Why can't we develop him!!!! Also Fox isn't saying **** about Tebow, it's some chicken **** dude hiding behind the media.

It's not "start him or trade him". It's matter of making it very clear that the team believes in him and supports him. All we've gotten is mixed signals on the matter, and the most recent preseason game was very ominous. A team doesn't demote their 1st round QB and reduce his throws to almost nothing if they are supporting him. It just doesn't happen.

The media sharks are circling and the organization seems to be intent on dumping as much blood in the water as possible. They are only making the media madness that surrounds Tebow that much worse. It's clear they really don't have a ****ing clue what they are doing.

I don't know about you, but if for some reason the Broncos cut Tebow but end up going 10-6, then they'll have my respect, although I would miss seeing a player than definitely entertains me when I watch. Wins will silence the media and all of this nonsense around the team. I hope this only motivates Broncos players who perhaps feel slighted that there is so much attention on a 2nd/3rd string QB instead of the team.

Until the team starts losing with Orton combined with a better defense and better running game, I'm wouldn't point the finger at EFX. But, if they start losing again, and they don't put Tebow in.. I would really start to wonder if they were interested in developing him.

Who cares what the media says or thinks. Do you really think a NFL team should be controlled by the media? Really if Denver really listed to the media they wouldn't have drafted Tim Tebow in the first round. We wouldn't have drafted Miller over Marcell Dareus.

As bad as our FO has been over the last few seasons I'll take them over the "experts and media" everyday.

They will find away to get Tebow on the field. I'm sorry if it isn't fast enough for you.

It goes to show how stupid some of the national media are. If Tebow were the 4th string QB and a guy that the organization wasn't committed to, no way in hell they cut the kid a check for $6 mil+.

All of what's going on is simply not as dramatic as you and others want to make it out to be. The preseason is only make or break for players in danger of being cut. It's just not that big of a deal.

who the hell negotiated that contract for him? was it Xanders?
you don't cut bait on a 1st rounder this early in the game either way because he's working hard he's just not ready.

but 8.3 mil? that's a couple of starting DT's.

Remember, Tebow was a 1st round pick, before the rookie cap.

It goes to show how stupid some of the national media are. If Tebow were the 4th string QB and a guy that the organization wasn't committed to, no way in hell they cut the kid a check for $6 mil+.

This. They didn't even wait until the payment was due which shows even more of a commitment. If they were at all interested in doing something with him, other than grooming him to be the QBOTF, they at least would have waited until the last minute to cut him a huge check.

Again this isn't about getting Tebow on the field. It's about feeding the media and making the craziness worse. What they did in the last preseason game did exactly that. It sent the message that they aren't behind Tebow, and that's what the media vultures have been waiting for.

It more sends the message that they aren't concerned with what the media thinks, and that they want to evaluate another QB on the roster who was made significant gains in the offseason.

Which thing should be the clearer signal for the media... or the fans: number of reps in a meaningless preseason game or paying him a significant sum of money? Seriously, everyone needs to take a deep breath and calm down.

who ****ing cares what the media thinks
they dont have ANYTHING to do with the decisions at dove valley

let them say Tebow is the worst qb to ever play, or that his teammates hate him, or he has no support in the organization

Their comments dont matter.....at all

honestly if I were Tim I would be laughing my ass off at all the people concerning themselves with my status as a backup while I refine my technique I didnt have the chance to learn in college

its people like you and your obsession to jump to radical conclusions from every snippet of Tebow information that dilutes any real football talk we could be having about the actual starters

Instead the board is full of Tebow spam

As long as Tebow is a Bronco there will be a flood of "Bronco" fans wearing Florida Gator underwear under their Tebow jersey. They don't give a damn about the Broncos, they care about Timmy and that's it. They'll continue to make everything about him and I don't think there is anything we can do about it.

Unfortunately, this is true. The personality cultists will be out in full force as they've always been, not in support for the team, but for only their boy. They will boo the other QB's & cajole to no end just to see their idol under center as the starter.

As for cutting him his checks to sit the bench, it's chump change compared to the sales he generates. As I said before, bleed the cult dry of their cash and as soon as sales slip, discard both them and Tebow. That's easy to do since it's clear, despite all the reassurances from the Broncos, that he's not in any of the team's future plans (because actions always speak louder than words).

His jersey sales don't go to the Broncos directly. The only way he helps the Broncos make money directly is to be on the field which would put more butts in the seats and more mouths consuming concessions.

I don't hate tim tebow.... I actually think that we can win games with him a quarterback....... however I don't think he's ready to take over the team just yet and that's 1 reason why I was not a fan of us trying to get rid of Orton.

Right now at this present time kyle orton is the best quarterback on our team regardless of our own personal opinions.... I still truly believe that if we improve our running game and our defense shows up and show any semblance of pass protection Orton can win games for the denver broncos.....

I just also know that if we make the playoffs this year this place is gonna go nuts if they re sign Orton ......

That's when the front office is really gonna have a decision to make

We aren't going to lose enough games to get Andrew Luck. Fox will get our D and run game at least average. Orton is good enough under those circumstances for 6-8 wins. Not good bad enough for Luck.

Yeah he should have just handed the job to Tebow without practice or anything just to please the fans and media. I hope Tebow is more man about whats going on then our fans. We don't need to move him period. He is under contract and we paid him. Denver doesn't have any QB besides Tebow under contract next season. If the O line comes together and we have a decent running game and the D plays middle of the pack (all which is very possible) Orton will be fine even good so you might get to eat those words.

This coming from a poster that was among the first t embrace Tebow, to the point I was called a front runner by the site owner. Orton's failure has nothing to do with Tebow. It's the natural result of simply not being that good. And if you think our defense and running game are going to be improved enough to cover his shortcomings I'm pretty sure you're going to be sorely disappointed.

I'm not making a big assumption. History is on my side of this argument more then it is yours.

What history? How many teams that have picked a QB in the 2nd have had the #1 overall pick with a QB the caliber of Luck available? I really don't think there's all that many examples of that happening to be honest.

Orton's failure has nothing to do with Tebow. It's the natural result of simply not being that good. And if you think our defense and running game are going to be improved enough to cover his shortcomings I'm pretty sure you're going to be sorely disappointed.

No I won't be that disappointed because I am not invested in the outcome as much as I once was. I think it is the sobering times we live in.

As long as Tebow is a Bronco there will be a flood of "Bronco" fans wearing Florida Gator underwear under their Tebow jersey. They don't give a damn about the Broncos, they care about Timmy and that's it. They'll continue to make everything about him and I don't think there is anything we can do about it.Thank goodness!!!

Its like this is a message board devoted to Tim Tebow.

You don't get to agree. We had like three active Tebow threads yesterday. You made it 10+ active Tebow threads. Now you are going to cry about it? You have to be the dumbest person on these forums...

5GW tactic to modify the forums to remove the onslaught of the Tebow/Orton conversation from the OM, which is strangling the "vibe" of the board.

I bumped 3 of some of the oldest tebow threads, and two of them continued with new posts of new conversation.

It was a litmus test to see where the breaking point is with the audience of this forum.

It seems, that a large sector of people are pretty ****ing tired of hearing about Tebow. While, there is another group of people that want to have the same conversation every ****ing day - they should be delegated to another sub group to keep the health of the main forum, and site at a better level.

Remove the toxicity, or isolate it - and the board should return to better 'health'.

But yeah, sometimes you have to do stupid **** in order to see gauge the response.

"I'm going to cry about the problem I made worse!"

Can't get dumber than that.

To be honest after being lied to by McD for two years straight a lot of Broncos fans are skeptical regarding such statements. Here's hoping EFX proves to be more trustworthy than that.

Yup. Xanders is real trustworthy. Just look at how he fell on his sword after McD was let go by telling anyone that would listen that all of "McD's" bad picks were all on McD and all the good signings were all Xanders.
