Wow, 5.9 in VA.

Hope those people are okay because I doubt most civilian things on this side of the country are built to withstand ANY sort of quake.

Right between Charlottesville and Richmond.

We were gonna go to Busch Gardens this weekend.

It took a hurricane and earthquake to postpone that trip.

If a hurricane is approaching be sure to stop off at the third island of the CBBT and drop a line. Good fishing when those low pressure systems approach, and if it get "hairy" just park in one of thee tunnels. You'll be safe.;)

There's also a great little raw bar near the Williamsburg lodge which used to serve 25 cent oyters on the half shell for happy hour. When I was building an addition to the lodge it was a must stop on the way home. :strong:

Meh, PA's charter was used to help frame the Constitution. That being said, if you want junk food or farms move to PA. If you like everything in miniature, move to PA.

I love PA geography - but the rest of it is..."meh".

That being said - Felt the earthquake here too. Crossed my mind for a minute if the rest of the building is secure. It'd be a bad day at work if it weren't.

Happens a lot? I don't think so.

The USGS database shows that there is a 1.378% chance of a major earthquake within 50 kilometers of Colorado Springs, Colorado within the next 50 years. The largest earthquake within 100 miles of Colorado Springs, Colorado was a 4 Magnitude in 1994.

Earthquakes happen out here quite often. Asking me to get specific on an ipod keyboard...psh. They are usually in SW colorado and rarely get above a 3. Usually the news says "an earthquake hit outside of blahblah today...a magnitude 1.3..."

After Washington DC realized that the earthquake was nothing to worry about, they took to Twitter to joke about the cause. Some of the best ones below:

@TPCarney: Krugman says it wasn't big enough.

@comradescott: Evidently the quake occurred on a little known fault line outside of DC called "Bush's Fault". #tcot #p2

@calebhowe: Breaking: Obama administration points out they "inherited" fault lines from previous administrations.

@MaizeBlueNation: Fox News claims the Washington monument is leaning to the right, MSNBC claims it's leaning to the left. More news at 11.

@charliespiering: I won't stop shaking until Obama makes a speech telling me that everything is ok and that he has a plan

@Ben_Howe: As all of DC leaves work at the same time, the United States experiences a brief economic recovery.

@daveweigel: Was all set to loot in Dupont circle, then realized all we have are taco and cupcake stores.

@JimPethokoukis Shot: Virginia Earthquake Chaser: Hurricane Irene

@politicoroger POLITICO had the earthquake story yesterday

out, so now we are staying at HAM Vacation Resort, you think M. Thomas

would approve?

Yea, I heard. Someone sent us a video of some of the earthquake damage. Somewhere near Tysons Corner a building broke and a metal beam sliced a car in half. The other cars got damaged from all the bricks that landed on them.

Just saw that on the news. BTW I am official sick of the coverage. But I do feel sorry for my father who is trying to get to his car on the metro, he hiked out of DC to catch the blue line at Arlington National Cemetery

It was very interesting to be in the middle of teacher orientation and then have the entire school start shaking. I can cross that off things I want to experience before I die (and not right before I die :) ).

I really hope they close the Metro tomorrow, which will force OPM to close the government.

Apparently some NYC tv broadcasters have mentioned people being skiddish cuz of the 10th ann. of 9/11 and are tying this into it.

Congrats NYC, youve officially made this about you.

This is why we cant have nice things.

Really bro? Really? Jagoff

The greatest American ever was a Virginian.
The greatest law in or country was written by a Virginian

A Virginian wrote the US Consititution

Meh, confirmation bias and you can kiss my ass.

Besides, you moved out of VA. That makes you a coward to sit here and tell everyone how great VA is when you moved away from it.

Simply because he moved doesn't invalidate what he said.

Says someone who lives in VA. (confirmation bias). I'm sure if I asked people in PHI, they'd have a different answer.

Like i said, I don't care - I am from CO originally. I find it funny how much you guys "care".

First earthquake for me too. Well the last one a few months ago I slept through, so it doesn't count.

Wow. Mentally working through your request, to the already ironic jingoism, would add a level of socio-historic/sexual innuendo that I would prefer to leave well alone.

Or...simply, I have read too far into the request...

/sees self out the door.
