View Full Version : Name Your Top 15 Broncos Players

I was thinking a lot about the future of our team this mornist thought this would be a fun thing for the forum to participate in. (I guess this is sort of how people rank their teams respective farm systems in baseball.)

Top 15 in the Franchise

Name your top fifteen Broncos players. These would be players you see sticking on the Broncos for the next several years to help build the squad around to win. I would expect to see a lot of diversity on these lists. I also think this is rather challenging. What is your mix of veteran and rookie presence? What would you go out and get and change completely?

Feel free to explain your answers, don't be shy of criticism!

With all the talk of position battles, weaknesses and strengths, I just thought it would be great to see how fellow fans feel about our talent pool.

Veteran Players (3+ more seasons in the NFL)

Champ Bailey, CB
Ryan Clady, OL
Elvis Dumervil, DE
D.J. Williams, LB
Brandon Lloyd, WR
Chris Kuper, OL
Willis McGahee, RB

Youth Players (3 or less NFL seasons)

Knowshon Moreno, RB
Von Miller, LB
Rahim Moore, S
Orlando Franklin, OL
Zane Beadles, OL
Julius Thomas, TE
Eric Decker, WR
Tim Tebow, QB

(mine are in order :) )

I'm having a tough time finding other guys I'd put on the list as 'value' players... (I'm also cheating by stealing other people's picks)

This was harder than I though it'd be. I'm guessing that I'll want to change my answers after reading other's posts.
Roughly in order by value right now:

Orton
Kuper
Prater
Royal
Moreno
DJ Williams
Ayers

I wouldn't have thought of putting Prater - good choice

Ah yes, I really like our specialists right now. Our special teams should be pretty good this year now that we don't have to defend kickoff returns anymore. (seriously, what was the NFL thinking?)

For all the crap Moreno gets, he's going to be a beastly catching passes out of the backfield. He's very good in open space IMO.

This is all subject to change. It's hard to tell right now, because a lot of our young players have so much potential. Note* I left off some injured players, and based this around what I think is going to transpire this season.

6) Rahim Moore
7) Chris Kuper
8) Orlando Franklin
9) Eric Decker
10) Robert Ayers
11) Cassius Vaughn
12) Brodrick Bunkley
13) Matt Prater

I'd say the same thing about Moore or Franklin... :)

I based my list on their overall value to other clubs (if they were on the market, for example). Miller is a blue chip guy, same with Clady. Bailey would be higher except for age, of course.

After the performance of Brandon Colquitt so far in preseason.....I'd have find room for him on the list. Dude was a weapon Sat. He flipped the field more than once with booming high kicks.

This is very much based on what I think the new regime is thinking for the future, not my favourites or anything. Downgraded Lloyd, Moreno and Dawkins because even though I like them and think they're good, I don't think they'll be kept around much longer. Really hard to know where to rank Tebow so I threw him in the middle. I reserve the right to add players I forgot.

1. Clady
2. Dumervil
3. Miller
4. Kuper
5. Bailey
6. Royal
7. Tebow
8. Moore
9. Ayers
10. Decker
11. Thomas (Julius)
12. Irving
13. Thomas (Baybay)
14. Franklin

Yet you have 3 rookies and Joe Mays on your list ROFL

Mays played significant time on STs and as a LB...he's also relaying the plays in some circumstances

Miller is a starter as is Moore and Franklin

J. Thomas is competing with a handful of other TEs for PT and is coming in as a late pick who picked up a football just a few years ago

so???? you can keep ROFL i guess

How long has Doom been here now? 5 years? Incredible that people can't spell his last name.

But none of these guys has played a second in the NFL. It's just ironic that you felt people were 'too early' on returning players, then you picked rookies.

I think Willis can produce at an effective level in his role moving forward. The combination of him and Moreno is one keeping in tact. Saves on us having to address RB as a high need in the draft if they can both stay healthy and produce.

Kuper played like crap last yr. Football Outsiders had his run blocking ranked near the bottom from what I heard. Not sure he is that good.
