View Full Version : So is Denver's D that good or does Buffalo just suck?

Buffalo sucks. But Denver's defense is impressive. I have to admit, Bunkley is playing well. How much improved is Enver's D?

Von Miller is a freak.

The Broncos will have to learn how to cover up his back side on screen plays.

Rahim Moore is having a better game than last week.

I think its obvious how important Dumervil is but Bunkley and DJ and Von Miller and Champ and Vaughn and even Moore have all had good games.

Buffalo does suck but the defense LOOKS cohesive. Still prone to giving up the big run though, gotta tighten that up.

The focus on smaller but faster players will necessarily mean we'll give up some big runs, but I'm glad to see some good pass rush and big defensive plays in general.

Thats been our MO.

In year 1 of McD, Denver stopped the run something like 85% of the time. the other 15% of the time it was a HUGE play.

Id rather get a hyper talented DT, a blue chip MLB and one really good corner. I know you aren't the biggest fan of what we have but I think Vaughn can grow into a really good starting corner. I think Thompson can be an above average nickle back. So, there you go.

I think it's obvious that we are better this yr. But the Bills do stink, they could be in the Luck sweepstakes. No way Broncos are though this team probably wins around 8 games.

I just love how the defense is lining up. It looks more normal to me. I thought last yr that sometimes the alignment just looked strange. I'm no expert on the techniques like some of the guys on the board, but I like the way we the front 7 is attacking the edges. I think Doom and Miller may make a few RT, and LT really nervous this yr. I want them to get to Rivers so bad i can taste it.

I think we're improved. Buffalo had a pretty good offense last year.

Von Miller is going to be a beast. Moore looked solid.

Brodrick Bunkley is looking like the 14th overall pick he was.... or maybe weve been hurting for so long at DT, that now that we finally have a sufficient starter he seems like an all-pro.

Even with a HUGE improvement, we'll be picking in the top half...

Keep in mind we sat at 12th after 8-8.

Assuming Luck stays #1 overall, it's certainly still nothing 2 firsts and a second couldn't reach... or throw in a pro bowler.

A legitimate pass rush always makes a defense better and the Broncos have not had one in many years. So if they can get routine pressure on the QB this year, the defense is better just with that since then other teams have to adjust and make changes with protections, who to stay in and help block, and even can change play calling too.

Hard for me to say right now. New D coaching staff, only the 2nd PS game . . . .

I'll venture that they'll get more pressure on the QB this year, I think that's clear. Therefore, there will be more turnovers, therefore the D will be improved.

Dream on only way that happens if team picking 1st has QB position set. No way would a team pass on a QB. Look Carolina picked Fig Newton. Imo Luck is way more pro ready then the fig.

If you had a back-up fullback that wasn't a great blocker (in your opinion), but really was the best at the league at punching in the ball at the goal line, to the point where last year he was unstoppable at it, would you be in a rush to trade him?

Probably not. So even if you think Tebow sucks, why wouldn't you want him as your 3rd guy that can come in in specialty situations (like goal line) and make a difference?

4 QBs went in the first round this year. Another couple in the early 2nd. You think any of those teams are going QB 1st overall next season so soon?

You can rule out Carolina, Tennessee, Minnesota, and Jacksonville from taking a QB #1 overall. Its unlikely that Cincy will and unless Harbaugh is really super mad for Luck he probably won't either.

Bradford and McCoy have locked up jobs with two mediocre to bad teams as well. Kolb was traded and given a big fat deal to go to AZ.

Thats 9 of the bottom half teams in the NFL that already have QB commitments.

Its REAL likely that the team picking #1 overall is also going to be a team that winds up starting one of these people I just mentioned for significant time.

Harbaugh would sell his soul to get Luck, as would Minnesota, but both those teams, along with Denver, will be a ways down the charts when the pick is made.

My guess is Luck will find his fate thrown into the black hole of the Bengals, never to be seen again.

If so then why did Harbaugh use a 2nd for Kaepernick when they were also planning to bring Alex Smith back? If he was in sell out for Luck mode you'd think he'd have used the 2nd for another position of need or traded it for future value to help him move up after Luck.

Probably because, in reality, Harbaugh knew he wasn't going to get a shot at Luck and he wants to develop a QB replacement for Smith.

With that 49er defense and that horrible NFC West, there's a better-than-decent chance San Francisco could win that division, leaving them light years away from that #1 selection.

Showed good speed for a big man -- getting t the QB -- and also knocked down a pass.

Maybe the first round pick just needed a second chance.

This is the missing piece right here. Mays is something less than a stopgap and Irving, granted it's only been 2 preseason games, has not impressed me at all. I saw one play last night that he (Irving) diagnosed and reacted well but still gave up 4 yds. Other than that, he's been just a guy... hope I'm wrong, and I haven't re-watched the Bills game yet.

That would explain his lack of impact plays from the first and possibly second game.

I am not calling him a complete bust yet, obviously way too premature.

I hope he is a stud/beast MLB. Haven't seen it yet though.
