View Full Version : 12 yrs of QB controversies crush my Orange

Hi Guys, it’s been a long time. I had to get on and rant a little. I’m just sick and tired of not having a solid QB on our beloved Broncos. We’re now in our 12th year of QB controversies with no end in sight. 1 playoff win since the last ring and other than 2006 we’ve been in a swirling vortex spinning in a downward spiral. My opinion on the latest QB controversy?

Orton sucked yesterday, he will tonight and will tomorrow. Yes, he has more “experience” than Tebow or Quinn but that is his only qualifier. I can't say Tebow at this point is a better option either nor Quinn.

I’m still cursing McD for signing Orton to 2 year deal. Had he signed him to a one year contract instead, Orton would be gone and setting on the bench of some perennial loser as a back up or maybe out the NFL altogether. If Orton is the best we can do we’re in for another long, painful and intensely boring season. There said it, I’m done.

I'm trying to be upbeat and positive but I just don't see a dramatic turn around this season on O. I think the only thing we can hope for is that the Broncos can finally play some better D than they did last year. I think that'll happen but on O? Doubtful… Someone give me some good karma, I’m just not feeling it.

so if we didn't have Orton...there is a good chance we draft a QB this year...I'm not sure how comfortable you'd feel with Gabbert under center, prolly still be bitching...post more often, you fit right in with the rest of them

Listen I'm not here to debate the QB position. I'm just ready for some W's in the win column I don't care if Richard Simmons is under center or Joe Blow. I’m tired of the crappy uninspired play and the boring football we’ve been subjected to the last 2 years. Does that make me a B***h?

Here's the deal, we can't change the mess so stop killing yourself over it. Cheer for Orton (whom I don't like much either), and if he sucks then cheer for the next guy. Or, more importantly, cheer for the DEFENSE!

Great answer I hope I can cheer but most likely will be cursing instead. I'm a Wyoming Cowboys Fan also and you talk about a crappy string of football teams. They beat Fresno State in 2009 in the New Mexico Bowl but that has been the only bright spot for years and years since Joe Tiller left for Purdue. I lived in Wyoming during the Paul Roach Era when the Cowboys won the WAC 2 years in a row and were a nationally ranked team back in the 80's.

I've been a big College and NFL football fan all of my life but I getting really sick to my stomach watching my teams losing bad football games year after year.

Bingo! That's exactly what I'll be doing, rooting for the D and I think they'll be the reason for any wins. I sincerely doubt anyone expects much this year except improvement on D. The QB position, along with DT, will have to be dealt with next year. While I too am starving for some wins, some playoffs, another SB, I doubt our SB drought will be in the marathon realm of KC, Oakland, and SD

I hope you're right about the drought; we’re so due for a deluge.

Here's an example of how my passion has started to wane. I was on vacation for the last 2 weeks and finally got to watch the Broncos Cowboys preseason game on the DVR last night. Normally, probably like most of you Diehards I’d watch ever single snap and try to get some feel as to how good the Broncos might be. In the past I was obsessed with watching every preseason game for years but after watching the game last night by the start of the 3rd Q I turned it off.

I know the action got better in the 4th but I just didn’t fell like setting through it even with the luxury of fast forwarding the game. I know it’s the first meaningless preseason game of the season. I’m just saying…

Then played in the NFC championship

To get back to the OP's topic, this is what happens to 75% of the NFL when they don't have a 16 year HOF'er starting for them. Look around most teams are looking for a QB and hoping to find a way to turn it around every year, we are one of them now.

From the season we went to the AFC Championship. Back when there was no QB controversy for a whole year, because we were happy with The Snake!

edit: nevermind, I remember being at the Chargers game when all of Mile High was booing, and people were shouting "Van Pelt!" Then Jake came back and won it for the crowd that boo'ed him.

For having had John Elway, Mile High is strangely bad at judging the quality of qb's.

Yes another sad bronco fan soul that feels my pain. We suck and everyone knows it start Tebow lets go 2-14 and pick up luck end of story. And if Tebow goes 8-8 under center than we know we got a solid QB in him

I have a history on this website with the whole Plummer debate when it was hot and heavy, it's past history. We had controversy even with Plummer; the Broncos won back then with the best running game in the NFL, not Plummer's outstanding play at QB. Plummer blew the AFC Championship for the Broncos bottom line. The Broncos had the team that could have and should have had a ring in 2006 if not for his bumbling play.

Moving on now to today since today is what matters my thoughts going into this season are that'll we'll lose games whether Orton or Tebow is starting or not. That said I think Tebow should be on the field getting some game experience. The choice is lose very ugly with Orton or lose with Tebow fighting his guts out to win a game. The latter would be a much more entertaining game to watch than what we've seen from Orton for 2 years. I have no cross to bear for Tebow but I'm convinced that Orton just isn't going to get it done. This is maybe the worst offensive team in his 3 years here and he's just not good enough to carry a bad team let alone a worse team.

It is loaded with beer.:~ohyah!: and although the Broncos played better in this preseason game than the last my feelings are still the same as yesterday. This game is not a snapshot of how great Orton, Quinn or Tebow will play on opening day. The politics of the “NOW” on the Orange Mane by some is just ridiculous.
