Didn't see anyone mention this yet.

Orland Franklin has signed and is on the field.

Loving the new rookie wage scale. All kinds of firsts and seconds signing quickly.

I thought I heard that the new rookie wage scale should prevent the ability of picks to hold out.

He is a lot meaner than Ryan Harris and could literally ragdoll a grizzly bear. Go Orlandacus Franklinwin.

I'm always going to call him Clifford Franklin (aka Orlando Jones). I hope he talks in 3rd person too.

Anyone still interested in trying to sign Harris on the cheap for depth/insurance?

We definitely need something at RT. Outside of Miller, I just don't see how any of these rookies are going to be able to step right in and contribute to anything other than special teams. They would've all had a tough time with a full offseason of rookie camps and regular team minicamps, etc. Without that, good luck.

if the rookie is the best player then he'll play.
this team needs talent and unless it's gotten in FA then the draft picks will be counted on heavily.
i'm not saying that they will cake walk through and earn the position from day 1.
but this was a 4-12 team last season and most of that was a lack of talent.
so far all that's been added was talent through the draft.

I completely agree with all that. Here's the thing, though. SoCal is probably the only guy here who has seen a lot of Franklin in college and he thought he was at least a year or two away from starting for us, if ever. And that was assuming full offseason programs. If you want to force a guy like that on the field, protecting Tebow's blind side I might add, then you're a far more crazy guy than me.

It would be wise to bring harris back for one more year.

Debow always looked like a mean ass football player. Glad we finally were able to draft him. He must have been pretty damn young in the movie but played the role like a true grownup. Really shows how mature he is. Loving this mentality.

almost every rookie is a year or two away from starting when they come into the league. no rookie truly comes in ready to go right away and if they are they're taken pretty high normally.

DT's and OL often take 3-4 years to really adapt to the game properly and hone their craft.
but if Franklin is the best OL then he needs to be the starter.
if that makes me crazy so be it then. this team is rebuilding and no one player that you can bring in is going to solve all the issues.

personally i'm much more worried about Tebow getting hurt trying to run over a defender than i am with a blindside hit.

He was also a professional wrestler for a little while, if I remember right.

Once again, I agree with this in theory. But what if he's literally the only one on the roster (not counting Kuper who could swing over there in a pinch) who plays the position? By definition, he'd be the "best" because there's nobody he's competing with. Is that what we want? No, of course not.

Just like at DT. Sure, we could sign some useless undrafted FA and he'd technically be the best at the position. Should we start him instead of signing a Mebane/Franklin type guy? Again, no, of course not.

We need competition at RT. We don't need to simply hand it off to a rookie from day one who might not be able to beat out a guy like Harris in an open competition.

Lestat

i'm not saying don't bring in competition or a guy who would be the de facto #1 RT.
i'm saying that once the competition is over, the FA are signed and put through their paces, if Franklin is the guy who played the best then he needs to be the starter.

we don't have much to go off as of yet but i assume the Broncos will add some OL for competition throughout camp.

Good god I hope he is a physical as he looks. I want this team to beat the ever living shiat out of the opposition. For example, see Baltimore vs Denver last year.... except reverse the results. A team full of Joe Mays types.
