Very underrated talent, I honestly believe he will vastly outperform his draft position.

Agreed. I figure him as a very capable backup for Doom and will make an impact this season.

Yeah I'm curious to see how he does in the pros. I think he will be one of the steals in the draft!

I'm disappointed this thread didn't start with "Orton officially traded."

Its too bad (well great for us) that he fell sooooooo far in draft. Just because he's not of the Chokeland Gayders mold aka SPEED doesn't mean the young man doesn't have what it takes to be dominant in NFL 31 teams are going to facepalm when he has great production. Same goes with Nate Irving, yes after looking at pics of his accident he should be dead. Yet he was still productive for Wolf Pack his senior year. Isee our draft having 6 starters and good depth and ST play.

The guy didn't do well at the combine for what I've read somewhere. He dropped all the way to the 7th round because of it.
He was projected as a mid-round pick.
In college he was very productive: 29 sacks, that's a lot of sacks for a LB in college.
We've got a nice group of LB's that looked good when we drafted them.
I'm looking forward to see what we've got... :strong:

He's not a linebacker, though.

He's not a linebacker, though. You're right. He played DE. My bad.
At 6'2" i wonder if he'd play DE...

Elvis Dumervil is 5'11 and will be playing DE, so why wouldn't Beal?

Yep, I couldn't believe when the pick came across...I was like, is this the same guy that dominated the big 12....it must be somebody with the same name....totally blows my mind!

Doom is the exception, not the rule. He would have gone in the first round if he were 6'3"+

Regardless, anyone who thought he would play LB is clueless.

I really, really, really hate comments like this...

'If he were taller, stronger, faster, and all-around better, he would have gone higher in the draft'

:gripe:

(and I'm not trying to take a direct shot at you, Mightysmurf, apologies if it seems that way)

Beal was a very productive player against good talent. I'm just concerned that we are building up a stockpile of undersized D-Ends. He should help the HAM factor around here, and I hope he sticks.

I wonder if NFLN didn't ask the Broncos to drag this out over the next week or so until they actually have real news to report on.

"Beal was a steal and is the real deal", he will light it up on special teams and then work his way into the rotiation and be a "steal of a deal".......

Charles Johnson, Everette Brown, etc.

It's just kinda how it goes.

It wasn't just the combine he tanked, but workouts. He looked like he was at half-speed and got tossed around by Tackles. He was projected 1st Rnd at one point, than dropped to early/mid as the draft neared. After his poor showing, he slipped into draft oblivion.

If we get the game-day Jeremy Beal, he'll be one of the draft's top steals, but if he's the workout Beal, he's P-Squad.
