Wow. I really wanted him here, but not at those numbers.

Would have liked to have him, but that is pretty high for an injury prone RB.

I am glad the Broncos didn't give 8mil a season to an older running back. That's crazy.

Sign Michael Bush now please!

I also wouldn't mind taking a shot at the ATL backs Norwood and Snelling.

For that $$$? Glad it's not us.

No doubt. I think he's a good fit here, but that's insane money.

Ahmad Bradshaw would come at half that price

Le'ron Mcclain. Dude will be a monster if they let him run it.

Clinton Portis for about 20%.

Bush is restricted. Say no to giving up draft picks, especially to the Raiders.

Snelling should be the guy.

Let him go for that price. The dude has never played an entire season since high school and has a lot of mileage.

i agree on McClain, he can be the FB and give us 10-15 carries much like Alstott during his prime in Tampa.

i liked the idea of DeAngelo in Denver but we have much more pressing needs to shell out 43 mil for.

Jebus!

Dodged a bullet there.

Will Lendale get a shot here? or is he done?

BroncoLifer

Clinton Portis for about 20%.

Would we also get the championship belt or is that extra?

I'm fine with not signing DeAngelo Williams.

That is a lot of jack to pay a 28 year old running back.

Rarely do you see it work out for a team when they give a running back close to 30 years old a huge contract.

broncofan2438

Yea just saw Shefters tweet. Thats crazy. Let him stay there

Yep....he carried the rock a ton at Memphis and already had mileage on him when he was drafted.

6,026 rushing yards (7,573 all-purpose yards) at Memphis.

i was really hoping for Deangelo but 43 mil over 5 yrs?....

good grief thats ridiculous...

don't want him THAT bad, sheez...

Ha! And people were saying that "you don't know how much they're offering" or that I was off when I said $7 million/year was a possibility......

The scary thing is that his price tag didn't simply get up there by itself. EFX probably got it up there with the bidding war...I'm just happy we lost.

Wow, that is crazy for an older RB, especially when they already had Stewart. Glad we didn't pay that much.

It's interesting that Richardson finally decided to open his purse for the new coaching regime.

I wonder what was stopping him all these years with Fox...

Mandatory cap floor.

To be sure that's a component, but he's talking about long term contracts for Beason and Thomas Davis, after just handing out blockbuster deals to Williams and Johnson.

Of course, another part of it is not being as heavily penalized by the #1 pick this past year.

That's insane to give him that! There are some solid RB's out there and we have to out and get at least one

orange&blue87
07-27-2011, 11:16 AM
While that number seems high, it could also be an offset of the CBA. With rookies wages capped at a relatively low figure, and teams needing to be within 99% of the cap, veterans in the next few years will be getting larger than usual contracts.

21 million guaranteed? That's an absurd contract for an older above average RB.

BroncoInferno
07-27-2011, 12:27 PM
Good. At his age (28 is oldish for a RB, especially given the mileage he racked up in college), and coming off a foot injury that limited him to 3 games last season (not to mention that he hasn't made it through a full season of football since high school), he wasn't worth $5 million per year, let alone $8 million+. RB is probably the easiest position in the league to find productive players at a low cost. No need to sink that kind of dough into an injury prone guy with a lot of mileage.

07-27-2011, 12:35 PM
I'm glad we didn't over-value the guy. There are other options and we need to spend our money on a DT

diehardbroncosfan
07-27-2011, 12:42 PM
I would have liked Deangelo, but just like Johnson yesterday the price would have been far too steep. Here's to hoping Snelling, McGahee or Ronnie Brown become a Bronco.

Agamemnon

Adrian Peterson money for DeAngelo Williams?. I can see why we didn't win that bidding war. That's ridiculous...

I'd rather spend the money on Jenkins, Mebane and trade Orton for Starks

Well now we can't go 7-9 smh

FireFly
07-27-2011, 04:10 PM
The news that we didn't spend that much on him makes me happy.

We need a RB, but he wasn't the right fit for us (not at that price especially)

There are other solid options still available at RB.

OrangeSe7en
07-27-2011, 04:15 PM
I would have liked to have signed him since he's a lot better than Moreno but I dont blame them outbidding Carolina. I don't know about all of these scrub RBs that I see people listing but we definitely need DTs.

I guess I actually wouldnt mind Michael Bush.
